It's officially GERD Awareness Week! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, heartburn and acid reflux symptoms can make the holidays an uncomfortable time of year for 1 in 5 Americans.

If you're struggling to manage heartburn and acid reflux this weekend, here are some things you can do to minimize discomfort:
- Schedule earlier eating times. Eating late at night can cause symptoms to flare up.
- Pass on fried foods. Fried foods can exacerbate GERD symptoms.
- Substitute soda for water. Caffeinated and carbonated beverages are known to aggravate heartburn flares.
- Talk to your doctor. An accurate diagnosis is the first step in receiving proper treatment and care.
- Come see us! Clinical Research is the only way for new medicine and treatments to safely and effectively come onto the market, and GERD research may be able to provide relief of discomfort.

Enjoy the holidays and Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at CRA!

Did you know November 19-25 was GERD Awareness Week?

First celebrated in 1999, there's no coincidence that it falls on Thanksgiving every year! Overeating and overindulging on the holiday can lead to a painful night for patients living with heartburn and acid reflux symptoms. GERD affects nearly 1 in 5 Americans, and causes a painful and unpredictable battle with symptoms such as heartburn, bloating, and regurgitation.

Raising awareness about the disease and researching medicinal therapies is key in reaching people with the disease and treating symptoms before they can further lead to complications.

If you struggle with acid reflux symptoms and want to help create a positive impact on GERD Research, contact us today by visiting our website at www.cra-al.biz, calling the office at (256) 536-6600, or messaging us here on Facebook to find out more!
