There are no preconditions or flexibility levels you need in order to find joy and fulfillment in your practice – yoga isn’t just a luxury, it’s a right to your well-being! We are all beautifully unique, as should be our own personal practice – at Blue Ridge Yoga, all classes are taught to accommodate each student. As a community, we believe in encouraging wellness by teaching ways to modify individual practice in order to suit your needs and work at any comfort level each time we come to our mat. Our classes will explore balance, strength, awareness, flexibility, relaxation, and meditation using the breath as a guide – each meeting is an opportunity to explore and come to a better understanding of your own body and mind. Our diverse range of teachers hail from a variety of yogic influences and traditions, creating a deep pool of knowledge and spirit within our studio. We look forward to the gifts you will bring to our community so we can all enjoy the journey to more joy, more light, and more love in our lives!

This week, we trusted our gut. And we’re really glad we did.

We need to talk about something real that happened. We experienced an unfortunate situation involving an aggressive individual at the studio.

We care a lot about this space and the people in it. So when something feels off, we pay attention.

And if we’re being honest… we almost didn’t. We almost explained it away.
Told ourselves it was probably nothing.
Tried to be easygoing and even understanding.

But something didn’t sit right. So we listened. We asked someone not to return,
and then we called for support… just in case.

And it turns out, it was the right call.

That quiet voice in your gut?
It matters more than we give it credit for.

So we’re doing something a little different.

Officer Greene, one of the officers who supported us from the Knoxville Co Sheriff’s Dept, offered to come in and lead a 60 min hands-on self-defense workshop for our community.

This won’t be a lecture, but a hands on, active experience. It’s learning what to actually do if you ever need it. You’ll have two different times to choose from.

Natarajasana, or Dancer Pose, is often admired for its elegance. But beneath the surface, it is a study in awareness.

Abby invites us to look beyond the shape and into the experience.

The standing leg becomes our foundation, asking for steadiness and strength. It reminds us of being grounded and still in the earth.

Then, as the heart opens and the body expands, the pose invites both vulnerability and control to coexist. We embrace the possibility that we are ready to achieve anything, and that we can face hard things.

It is no longer about reaching higher or pushing further. It becomes about rooting down, breathing steadily, and allowing the body to open with intention.

We’re teaming up with Society for a heart-melting fundraiser that includes:

puppies roaming
gentle yoga flowing
and a whole lot of sweet snuggles

Every single pup you meet is available for adoption… so just mentally prepare now.

$39 to join and 100% goes to supporting the incredible work being done to care for them.

Meet one of our incredible instructors, Debbie…where do we even begin!?💫

Debbie first stepped into a yoga class in 1998 at the Knoxville YMCA, and something clicked instantly…physically, spiritually, deeply. Decades later, she’s still learning, exploring, and showing up with the same passion.

Her training has taken her all over the country, studying under incredible teachers like Stephanie Keach and Cindy Dollar at Asheville Yoga Center (where she completed her 200hr and an additional 500hr), along with specialties in children’s, prenatal, restorative, senior, and vinyasa yoga. She’s also studied meditation with Erich Schiffman, yin yoga with Paul Grilley, therapeutic yoga, curvy yoga, and yoga for chronic illness and pain.

But maybe what we love most about Debbie…She is full of wisdom. You feel it the second you’re around her. She also has a beautiful gift for writing—especially poetry—that says exactly what your heart needed but didn’t know how to put into words.

Her philosophy is simple: yoga is for everybody. Every shape, every size, every season of life. Her gentle flow, All levels, and deep stretch classes are filled with meaning, creativity, and space to just be yourself.

When she’s not at the studio, you’ll find her with her dogs, sipping tea, laughing with her husband, blending essential oils, loving on her kids and grandkids, or listening to classic rock.

Debbie isn’t just a teacher. She’s an experience 🤍 and we know you’ll feel the same about her classes!
