Those caring for a loved one with dementia know that spring cleaning involves more than just dusting and mopping. It means removing hazards and keeping the space clean, simple, and organized for safety, health, and comfort.

šŸ› ļø Creativity in Motion at Our Tool Club!

Today our seniors with memory loss got hands‑on with our newest STEM tabletop tool — the ChompSaw, a dementia‑safe cardboard cutter that turns simple sheets of cardboard into pure imagination fuel.

With every gentle ā€œchomp,ā€ residents practiced:
✨ Cognitive problem‑solving
✨ Hand‑eye coordination
✨ Sensory exploration
✨ Design thinking and creativity

From simple shapes to imaginative structures, the room was buzzing with focus, laughter, and that wonderful spark that comes from making something with your own hands.

The ChompSaw isn’t just a tool — it’s a doorway to creativity, confidence, and joyful engagement. We can’t wait to see what our makers dream up next!

Caring for a loved one with dementia can feel overwhelming as families face memory loss and unexpected behavior changes.

What’s important to understand is that these changes aren’t intentional. They are caused by physical changes in the brain. Recognizing this can shift family caregivers away from frustration towards understanding, helping them to better support, communicate, and connect with their loved one.

So what are these changes to the brain that occur with dementia?

Families of loved ones with dementia often feel confused and overwhelmed as they struggle to comprehend that memory lapses, unpredictable behaviors, and personality changes are not things that can be controlled; they are the result of physical damage to the brain’s neurons. If you have a family me...

Today our residents took a wonderful trip down memory lane — and what a journey it was. We explored vintage toys, including a beautifully preserved 1940s–1950s Wolverine Child’s Real Electric Iron, sparking stories of childhood play, homemaking pretend‑games, and the simple joys of imagination.

The fun didn’t stop there. Residents tried their hand at the accordion, enjoyed sensory games, and even raced cars down a track — cheering each other on like kids again. The room was full of laughter, music, and that unmistakable spark of nostalgia.

And of course, our beloved pets Minnie Pearl the cockatiel and Dolly the ferret made their rounds. These two bring comfort, purpose, and companionship as residents help care for them and enjoy activities centered around their sweet personalities.

It was a morning filled with memories, movement, and meaningful moments — the kind that remind us how play keeps the heart young. šŸ’›šŸ¦šŸŖ˜šŸš—

Morning Mash-up was filled with rhythm, play, and togetherness — the perfect recipe for a bright, happy day.
