"Nothing wasted is our theme". New Direction has joined a new initiative, "Food Access". Through a partnership with the Food Connection Donation, New Direction picks up food from stores that can be used the next day. Foods like pizza, corn dogs, cookies, burritos and other delicious pick up foods. The Free Medical Clinic Feeding program gets a big boost. The people get a hot meal to eat onsite and bag lunch to carry out. "Let us feed the hungry, cloth the unclothed and those that need a compassion and care.

✨ Honoring Leadership. Celebrating Impact. ✨

Executive Director Cynthia J. Finch of New Direction Health Care Solutions was proudly recognized as one of over 30 outstanding women honored during Women on the Hill Day in Nashville, TN.

This powerful initiative, spearheaded by Senators London Lamar and Charlene Oliver, brought together inspiring women from across Tennessee to be celebrated on the Senate Floor for their dedication, leadership, and service to others.

The day continued with a special luncheon at the Indigo Hotel, where each honoree received a formal Resolution in recognition of their impact in their communities.

We are incredibly proud to see Ms. Finch honored among such phenomenal women who continue to uplift, lead, and make a difference every single day.

📍 Partnership Day Recap – Monday

On Monday, New Direction Health Care Solutions proudly participated in the University of Tennessee’s Office of Access and Engagement Partnership Day by hosting an information table and connecting with community members.

Our main focus was highlighting the New Direction Career Expansion Program, funded through the African American Equity Task Force Grant. We had meaningful conversations about how this program is creating pathways to opportunity and supporting workforce development in our community.

In addition, we shared information about volunteer opportunities with New Direction and our Free Clinic, encouraging others to get involved and make an impact.

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue building partnerships and expanding our reach across Knoxville. 💙

❤️🫀 Heart Health Matters! 🫀❤️
On February 25th, New Direction hosted a powerful Heart Health Lunch n’ Learn at Lennon Seney United Methodist Church — and over 50+ community members showed up ready to learn and take charge of their health!

We were honored to have Nicole Gross, Community Impact leader with the American Heart Association, serve as our subject matter expert for the day. She shared critical information about heart disease — which continues to be one of the #1 killers in the United States.

The conversation focused on:
✅ Proper Nutrition
✅ Regular Exercise
✅ Medication Management
✅ The Importance of Rest

At New Direction, we are not just talking about heart health — we are taking action. 💪🏾

We are championing:
❤️ Increased access to AEDs in churches and community gathering spaces
❤️ CPR certification opportunities
❤️ Empowering everyday people with the skills and knowledge to respond when someone collapses

❤️ Heart Health & Community Care at Our Free Medical Clinic ❤️

On Monday at our Free Medical Clinic, the focus was all about caring for the heart and showing love to our community. From important heart health conversations to meaningful fellowship, it was a day centered on wellness and compassion.

We were blessed with delicious food provided by Wyatt’s Classic Catering and warm blankets generously donated by the AME Zion Missionary.

Our Free Medical Clinic takes place every Monday, and New Direction is always there with resources and supplies to support those we serve.

Together, we continue making heart health and whole-person care a priority in our community. 💙

🚨 IMPORTANT

Tennessee leaders are raising serious concerns after Gov. Bill Lee rejected the Summer EBT program for the second year in a row, cutting off critical food assistance for nearly 700,000 food-insecure children across our state.

This is an $80 million federally funded program — at no cost to Tennessee taxpayers.

Nearly 1 in 5 Tennessee children face food insecurity.

Last year’s state replacement program reached only 2% of eligible children.
The deadline to act is February 15.

📞 Please call Gov. Lee’s office today at (615) 741-2001 and urge him to restore the Summer EBT program for Tennessee families.

Our children cannot afford delays.

There is a fierce urgency of now.

Today at our Weekly Free Medical Clinic (held every Monday), we began celebrating the month of Love by focusing on the importance of caring for your heart.

Participants received a heart health workshop highlighting simple but powerful ways to protect and strengthen your heart:

1️⃣ Exercise & Movement – Stay active daily, even small steps make a big difference.
2️⃣ Eat Healthy Foods – Choose fresh vegetables, lean proteins, and heart-friendly meals.
3️⃣ Practice Self-Care & Reduce Stress – Protect your peace and prioritize your well-being.

We also demonstrated healthy meal options, including fresh salads packed with vegetables and delicious baked chicken prepared with care. ❤️🥗

Heart health is more than a conversation — it’s a lifestyle. We are committed to educating and empowering our community through preventive health at every clinic.

We were blessed to welcome the new Presiding Elder, Rev. Barbara Haigler, who was on site to meet with the Missionary Department and share in this impactful gathering.

Our very own Sister Cynthia J. Finch, Executive Director of New Direction, provided an informative overview on the importance of heart health—reminding us that awareness, prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices save lives.

To close with inspiration, Dr. Kim Brooks delivered a powerful message on ❤️ Love—because caring for your heart is not only physical, it’s spiritual and emotional too.

The Free Medical Clinic truly embodied Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of “being of service to others.”

On January 19, 2026, several organizations came together to support the clinic’s community feeding, showing the power of collaboration and compassion.

We are grateful for the support of AME Zion District Missionary, CAC, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Pi Zeta Omega Chapter, United Methodist Church – Lennon Senney, and our dedicated volunteers.

A special thank you to Food Rescue Initiative through Bridges Center for providing fresh bagels that made the day even brighter.
