This holiday season was nothing short of magical because of our incredible community. Through five Elf Shopping Days, countless toy donations and the generosity of over 900 community sponsors, children and families in need experienced the joy of the holidays through our Dear Santa program.

We are especially grateful for the Beth Haynes 12 Days of Christmas Auction, which raised more than $125,000 to support Dear Santa. From festive decorating parties to the many volunteers who gave their time, energy and hearts, every detail came together to make this season bright.

A special thank you to the Junior League of Knoxville for decorating beautiful Christmas trees for our domestic violence shelter, bringing warmth, comfort and holiday cheer to families during a difficult time. 🎄

Thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated, volunteered and supported Dear Santa and the Beth Haynes 12 Day of Christmas auction.

Our School-Based Mental Health Liaison, Emilee, set up an information table at a school resource event in Sevier County earlier this week.
School Based Behavioral Health Liaisons are the bridge between schools, families and mental health/community resources. Their job is to make sure students get the right support at the right time — and that schools don’t have to navigate behavioral health needs alone.

Here’s what they typically do:
-Connect students and families to services
They help link families with counseling, healthcare, housing support, crisis services or other community resources.

-Support school staff
They work alongside teachers, counselors, and administrators to problem-solve behavioral concerns and strengthen support plans for students.

-Early identification & prevention
They notice patterns or needs early and step in before challenges grow into crises.

-Coordinate care
If a student already has services, the liaison helps keep communication smooth between providers, the school and the family (with proper consent).

-Provide on-site assistance
They may meet with students/families at school, join school meetings or help with referrals and follow-ups.

-Strengthen school-community partnerships
Events like the School Resource Event are a great example — they build a network of support around students.

We are delighted to embrace the spirit of giving this holiday season. Through the McNabb Center’s Dear Santa program, we were able to make Christmas wishes come true for two children. We also lent support to local seniors through the Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, Inc.’s holiday wish list initiative.

The McNabb Center serves roughly 25,000 children, adults, and families navigating mental illness, addiction, and other challenging circumstances. SCHAS delivers vital in-home care for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities.

We are incredibly proud of our team’s generosity and their dedication to spreading kindness throughout this meaningful time of year.
