After winning the Big Ten Wrestling Championships, Jesse Mendez said something powerful:

“If I wrestle like me for 7 minutes, I can beat anyone in the world.”

That’s not arrogance.

That’s mental performance clarity.

Didn’t qualify for states or nationals.
Didn’t place at your qualifier.
Didn’t win the match you needed to.

And right now it probably feels heavy.

But hear me clearly 👇

Your worth was never on that bracket.

If you think: (see: binary thinking)
Win = Valuable
Loss = Less

You’re tying your identity to performance.

And that’s a fragile place to live.

Wrestling was never supposed to give you your identity.
It was supposed to reveal it.
