A lot of my work tends to be ongoing, thankless and transactional. Which is fine most of the time because a lot of projects can be corporate or mundane. Sometimes clients will only reach out with requests for revisions or "can we just erase x, y, z from these two photos?..."

But every once in a while I get some sweet unsolicited feedback that really warms my heart and reminds me why I love doing what I do. As was the case with this longtime friend who needed a photographer for her daughter's baptism last minute. Her message to me is in the 3rd slide.

I was recommended to her through a mom group by another mom and friend, so I'm just feeling really grateful and thankful for my friends and community who value my work and have kind words to say.

It's been a tough time lately so I really needed this virtual pat on the back. 🥰

Go say something nice to someone you know today.

It was bring-your-kid-to-work day for me this past Tuesday out of necessity as our family and work schedules threw hurdles at us. Leonardo is our oldest of three brothers (6yo) and their favorite toy lately has been a kids digital camera with some rudimentary video games built in. Think mid-2000's Nokias with Snake and 1mp potato camera sensors. But despite what feels like archaic tech to me, the little cameras are perfectly simplistic and age appropriate. Our boys love walking around the house prompting each other, the dog, my wife and I to say "Cheese" at any given time.

Well, it was only fitting that my assignment was to cover an after-school film class for early teens as part of an ongoing education series with the Museum of the . I figured since it's only an hour long and he'll have some common interest and it wouldn't be a total disaster.

Leonardo was shy at first among all the older kids, wanting to hover near me as I quietly captured students doing film things. But then he got more comfortable and roamed around [mostly] quietly, taking photos of things he found interesting in the classroom and hallways. Thankfully he only got bored and asked to go home during the last 15 minutes or so. So proud of my little man.

A big thanks to the MOMI instructors for making him feel at home and showing an interest in his budding hobby. ♥️👦📸

I've been back at work for about a month now while also taking a break from the socials mental health and centering my chi and all that.

The right eye has been healing nicely. My gas bubble has fully dissipated and I have full vision restored again in the eye following cataract surgery and subsequent scary retinal detachment in early January.

Depth perception is still a bit wonky while my brain adapts to the new lens and the retina healing but my left eye (the good eye) and spatial memory are picking up the slack for now.

I'm learning to see the world again in a new light so to speak. Despite all the ongoing and slow recovery effort, I'm still way more comfortable now than when I had a full blown chunky cataract in my eye. No more haze and headaches from blinding lights.

Thank you to everyone who reached out in the last couple of months with words or encouragement, memes and friendship. Looking forward to looking forward. 👀

Recent work at the documenting the new Exorcist Exhibition. THE EXORCIST is widely considered one of the scariest films ever made. Just in time for Halloween and in honor of the film's 50th anniversary, the new exhibit features materials drawn from MOMI's permanent collection, to explore the film's production and makeup design, detailing how a stylish townhouse in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and an innocent young girl were transformed into sites of horror.
