Self-love isn’t always candles and bubble baths.

Sometimes it looks like putting systems in place so your future self doesn’t have to carry quite so much, and your current self isn’t overwhelmed by decision fatigue.

Making sure care is already on the calendar, scheduling supportive care around medical appointments, whether that’s before for anxiety or after for recovery, and blocking time for the people and practices that steady you.

Self-care is a form of self-love.

Self-love is a form of self-respect.

When we ask less of ourselves in any given moment, we create more capacity to show up for ourselves and for others.

We love this explanation of what the lymphatic system does and why it matters more than most people realize, and how movement supports it.

Thank you, , for this wonderful explanation.

01/25/2026

January often comes with pressure to reset everything at once.

But real change — especially in the body — usually comes from small, consistent shifts. From listening, pacing, and allowing regulation to happen over time.

Care doesn’t have to be dramatic to be effective.

01/24/2026

There’s a common belief that massage isn’t effective unless it’s painful.

For many bodies — stressed bodies, healing bodies, medically complex bodies — pushing through pain is often counterproductive.

Effective care is about responsiveness.
About reading the body, adjusting in real time, and choosing what’s appropriate — not what’s most intense.

You shouldn’t have to grit your teeth or hold your breath to get good care.

01/24/2026

You don’t need to know exactly what to say in order to get good care.

Many people delay reaching out because they worry they won’t explain their body “well enough” or have the right words. That pressure can get in the way of getting support at all.

Your job isn’t to be the perfect client.
Your job is to show up honestly.

Our job is to listen, assess, and respond with skill and care.

I sat down to record one short video and realized I had a bit more on my mind than I expected. Sharing these as a short series.

12/27/2025

You don’t need anyone to give you permission to rest.

And still, many of us move through our days overriding what our bodies are asking for, especially when we’re used to pushing through.

Sometimes doing less is not avoidance.
It’s regulation.
It’s listening.
It’s care.

Intentional rest is not about stopping life, it’s about supporting the system that carries you through it.

If this feels like something someone you care about needs to hear, feel free to share it.
That includes you.

We are excited for the upcoming course, hosted by AMS Group at Body Craft Massage Therapy: Ethics for Trauma-Sensitive Bodywork, a one-hour in-person continuing education course taught by Lakshmi Om, LMBT and Somatic Therapist, Founder of The Flourish Center for Somatic Healing in North Carolina.

This introductory professional development course is designed for massage, bodywork, and allied health professionals. It explores how trauma can show up in the treatment room—what to recognize, how to respond, and how to maintain therapeutic safety and ethical boundaries in practice.

Participants will engage in reflection, discussion, and case studies to better understand how ethics guide practitioner integrity, client safety, and healing relationships.

Lakshmi brings over 25 years of experience working with the body to this exploration of the ethical foundations that help practitioners recognize trauma responses, maintain clear boundaries, and create conditions for true safety and healing in professional practice.

Rebecca is repping BCMT at NLN's Oncology-Lymphatic Superhighway conference. (Johns Hopkins, no less.) Always learning, always expanding.

A note from Rebecca:
I had the unexpected privilege of being the demo body for Michelle O'Connor's 'Manual Lymph Drainage For The Breast In the Presence of Lymphedema' class. Her skilled, sensitive work on my lumpectomy scar was extraordinary and a powerful reminder of how much this work can support healing and function, even decades down the road.
