Explore dissociation and countertransference in psychotherapy through real case examples and a liberation-based lens. This 4-hour CEU training equips clinicians with practical tools to recognize dissociative patterns and respond with holistic, client-centered care. Led by Dagem Lemma LCSW (he/him)

When working with dissociative clients, countertransference is not something to dismiss.

It may show up as confusion, urgency, distance, over-responsibility, or a feeling that the work is slipping just out of reach. These responses do not necessarily mean the therapist is off track. They may be clinical information.

When we approach countertransference with care and curiosity, it can offer insight into relational dynamics, protective strategies, and the conditions that keep disconnection in place.

Our upcoming training, Where'd You Go? Exploring Dissociation and Countertransference in Psychotherapy, explores these dynamics through case examples, discussion, and a liberation-based framework.

What changes when we stop seeing symptoms only as pathology?

In Decoding the DSM: A Critical Look at the DSM and Liberated-oriented Alternatives, we invite clinicians to consider how distress can also reflect survival, adaptation, and response to lived experience.

This 3-hour CE course explores strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally humbled alternatives to diagnosis that help us hold symptoms with more context and less harm.

Instead of asking only what is wrong, we can also ask what happened, what was survived, and what meaning these responses carry.

Sometimes dissociation isn't the first thing a clinician names.

Sometimes what gets noticed first is that the room feels stuck... a loss of thread, a move away from emotion just as it comes into reach, a repeating story that does not feel more connected, or a sense of circling something that never quite lands.

These moments do not always mean dissociation. But they can invite us to slow down, stay curious, and pay closer attention to what is happening in the therapeutic relationship.

Our upcoming training, Where’d You Go? Exploring Dissociation and Countertransference in Psychotherapy, offers a deeper look at dissociative experiences, therapeutic response, and countertransference through case examples, discussion, and a liberation-based framework.

Dissociation in therapy is not always obvious.

It may show up in losing track of time, going blank in the middle of a story, struggling to stay connected to emotion or memory, or returning again and again to relational patterns that are difficult to name in the moment.

For clinicians, widening our understanding of dissociation can support more grounded, intentional, and compassionate care.

This is not a memorize-the-DSM training.

Decoding the DSM: A Critical Look at the DSM and Liberated-oriented Alternatives was created for clinicians who want to think more critically about diagnosis, not simply apply categories.

In this training, we'll explore how diagnosis is shaped by history, culture, systems, and power, and what can get missed when context is left out, distress is reduced to symptoms or diagnosis is treated as neutral.

This training is for mental health professionals who are looking for a more trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally humbled approach to diagnosis and its impact on care, identity, and treatment.
