Blepharoplasty vs. Brow Lift: how to tell which is right 👀

Not all “heavy” or “droopy” upper eyelids are caused by excess eyelid skin.

• Upper blepharoplasty is designed to remove true excess eyelid skin that rests on the lashes or obstructs vision.
• Brow lifts address brow descent, where the eyebrow has fallen below its natural position and pushes tissue down onto the upper eyelid.
Here’s the key issue:
When brow descent is the primary problem, performing a blepharoplasty alone can over-remove eyelid tissue that was never excessive to begin with.
Why that matters:
– The eyelid may look hollowed or skeletonized over time
– The eye can appear rounder or “pulled”
– Patients may experience difficulty closing the eyes fully or chronic dryness
– Aging can appear accelerated, not improved
In many patients, lifting or stabilizing the brow (or choosing a non-surgical approach) restores a more open, youthful eye without removing eyelid skin at all.
The takeaway:
The best surgical plan isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what’s anatomically correct for your face.
A careful evaluation of brow position, eyelid skin quality, eye shape, and muscle function is essential before touching the eyelid.

Snow is one of the most powerful UV reflectors — bouncing up to 80% of the sun’s rays right back onto your skin. ❄️ That means when you’re skiing, hiking, or just spending time outside in winter, you’re getting hit from above and below, even on cloudy days. Cold air doesn’t protect your skin, and high altitudes actually increase UV intensity, making sun damage, dark spots, and premature aging more likely. A broad-spectrum sunscreen isn’t just a summer thing — it’s your most important winter skin barrier, especially in the mountains and snow.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is ideal for patients looking to improve the appearance of sun damage, redness, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone with minimal downtime. It’s best for fair to light-medium skin tones and for those noticing early signs of sun exposure or discoloration on the face, chest, or hands. Results are gradual and natural-looking, making it a great option for skin that needs overall brightening and clarity rather than dramatic resurfacing.
