The Journey Begins: Density Work for a Fuller Crown 👑
It’s always an honor when a client trusts us enough to travel a distance! This gentleman made the trip all the way from the Catskills, Upstate New York, to the heart of the city here at NYC Scalp Studio for his first session of Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP). We’re making his travel absolutely worth it with a foundational session focused on natural-looking density!
What is SMP Density Work? (And Why It Requires Patience)
This client is receiving density work on his crown, meaning he still has hair but is experiencing thinning that makes the scalp visible under normal lighting.
Our goal is not to create a shaved look, but to dramatically reduce the contrast between the hair and the skin.
We do this by using thousands of tiny, specialized micro-dots of pigment to perfectly replicate natural hair follicles. This technique creates a shadow effect, making the hair look instantly thicker and fuller.
The Multi-Session Process:
This is a look at his first session. Think of this session as laying the groundwork—we establish the base color, shape, and pattern. The pigment will lighten and soften slightly over the next two weeks as it heals.
He’ll be back in 2 to 3 weeks for his second session, where we will layer in more density, darken the overall treatment, and make any final refinements to ensure the result is seamless and natural from every angle. It’s the layering process that truly makes the final result undetectable.
