We know there are many overlaps between Autism and ADHD, so let’s break it down a bit!

In the world of , there are many symptoms that can be seen across different diagnoses, but there are also key differences to keep in mind! With Autism and ADHD, some of these include seeking familiarity versus novelty or being more monotropic rather than having many interests. It’s vital to properly understand these differences and the presentations of different developmental disabilities to avoid misdiagnosis or wrongfully generalizing individuals.

At ACP, we offer for families depending on location so they can ensure proper assessment and diagnose from clinically excellent individuals! For more information or to schedule an initial visit, you can call 800-679-3609 or email Welcome@AutismCarePartners.com.

Practice speech with conversation blocks!

Did you know it is sometimes easier for children with Autism to build onto statements rather than questions? That is why working on simple sentence structure can be in building language and social skills!

With conversation blocks, you take turns completing the open-ended phrase and then stack your block on top of the last one. This practices the usual give-and-take in conversation as well as builds vocabulary. Plus, stacking the blocks even tackles !

Put together your own pie by decorating and cutting up a paper circle! This activity works on shape recognition, and more. You can even pile on the skill development by numbering each piece to practice counting!

Have a pie-fect day!

"She would come home from working all day long, and she would sit on the floor with her daughter and work with her. I say this to parents all the time, 'It’s a team effort. When you work with the child just as hard as we do, then you’re going to see more progress.' That was such an inspiration to me. I saw that mom exhausted with her scrubs on, sitting on the floor and working with her child. And to this day, I will never forget that."

Angela Castillo joined ACP in 2025 as part of our ACP EI team in Brooklyn, New York. For our latest blog post, Angela shared her excitement about exploring a new challenge within the Clinical Director role, detailed what makes her team so special, and shared some personal insights like her Swifty status—a label she proudly shares with her daughter. We know you'll love learning more about Angela, her passion, and advocacy!

We are so fortunate to have clinically excellent and passionate people like Angela on ! Read our blog with her here: https://autismcarepartners.com/team-acp/the-transformational-angela-castillo/

The Early Intervention Program is a public program funded by New York State, Nassau & Suffolk counties, and the NYC Department of Mental Health, and is for children less than three years of age who have or are suspected of having a developmental delay and/or disability. Eligibility for the EIP can be determined only by State approved evaluators under contract with the municipality.

If a child is found eligible for the EIP, all services are identified in collaboration with the family and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers to deliver services authorized by the municipality. All services under the EIP are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to families, but health insurance may be accessed, without affecting your family’s benefits. For services provided in community settings that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying those costs.

To access EI services, contact the Nassau County Department of Health at 516-227-8661 or the Suffolk County Department of Health at 631-853-3100 or the Westchester County Department of Health at 914-813-5094. To access EI services within New York City, contact the NYC Help Line at 311.

Let's consider digital lessons: Often times, digital learning activities rely on auditory language to convey instruction. However, when a learner has difficulty understanding language, auditory instruction may not be a suitable tool to help them acquire vital communication skills.

The VIS is an evidence-based framework that utilizes a combination of visual supports such as standard text-based or static images, dynamic scene cues, and animation in order to convey language. The immersive and customized application of these tools ensures a way to meet each learner on their level, improving both understanding and use of words to aid in language development and skill acquisition.

The VIS is one-of-a-kind. Developed in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital, it is completely calibrated to the child’s needs, resolving limitations that result in memorized words, communication breakdowns, and increased frustration.

If you’re interested in a partnership using the VIS, connect with ACP’s AVP of VIS and Partnerships, Kara Morrison-Smith, at KMorrison-Smith@AutismCarePartners.com

There are many kiddos typically complete by the time they are two years old. Let’s go over some of them!

When little ones reach two, they typically can begin to point out objects and climb up stairs! These milestones demonstrate growth in communication and movement skills which are vital for development! At ACP EI, a division of Autism Care Partners, we work on and motor skills with our kiddos under two at their own pace, providing them with a comfortable and accepting environment to grow!

When people think of the Autism diagnosis, it is often associated with actions known as “stimming,” or self-stimulatory behavior. However, this is not exclusive to those with ASD! Many people stim in some way such as twirling their hair or biting their nails as a way to regulate their emotions. Swipe to learn about different types of stimming!

What’s important to note is that if stimming is not causing harm to an individual, there is no reason to intervene! Just like everyone else, those with Autism deserve to have ways to regulate their emotions in different situations. ACP’s clinicians will often stim with our learners to show acceptance and encourage pairing. With this, we can create a welcoming environment where little ones feel able to express themselves freely, which opens them up to learning new skills!
