Postpartum was never meant to be rushed.
It was meant to be held.

This Black History Month, we honor the Grand Midwives—Black birth keepers who protected, nurtured, and guided new mothers through postpartum as a sacred transition, not just recovery.

They understood the power of herbs.
Of rest.
Of ritual.

At CODDLE, we carry their wisdom forward—creating postpartum rituals infused with herbs, intention, and care, the way Grand Midwives meant it.

Because healing happens when we slow down, tend to the body, and honor the season you’re in.

Postpartum is sacred. Always has been.

Just as we guide new mothers through recovery, we stand with immigrant families in Minnesota.

At CODDLE, we believe care goes beyond products; it includes safety, dignity, and community protection. Knowing your rights, accessing resources, and rallying your support crew is a form of care.

We’ve gathered care-forward resources, tools for safety, advocacy and support.

Knowledge is protection. Safety is care. Families belong together.

Let’s protect each other.

Raise your hand 🙋🏽‍♀ if you felt weepy over everything after birth.

You’re not imagining it. After delivering the placenta, hormones drop fast—like, off-a-cliff fast. You might feel an emotional high at first, then within 24–48 hours, the mood swings hit. Hello, baby blues.

For most mamas, things level out by around two weeks postpartum. If intense emotions or intrusive thoughts last longer than that, it’s important to reach out to a trusted person or your doctor. 💛

Mamas—what was your postpartum emotional experience like? Share below so expecting mamas know what’s normal.

Let’s change the narrative around expecting and new mother gifts to include thoughtful gestures for the mother as well.

It’s time we recognize that a new mother needs support and care just as much as her baby. Society has conidtioned us to believe that all new mothers need more “stuff for their baby (spoiler alert - they don’t.)

What a new mother really needs is HELP. Support. Love. An extra set of hands around the house so she can spend time with the baby. She needs nourishment, food. Meals, groceries. She needs time and space to heal, and people to support her in all other areas of her life so she can devote the time and space to her healing.

So instead of only focusing on adorable baby items, let’s make a conscious effort to include gifts and acts of kindness that nurture the mother’s well-being. By doing so, we can help her feel supported, loved, and valued during this transformative time. ✨

If you’re expecting or know a mama friend who is, download our Postpartum Recovery Guide by commenting "Postpartum Guide" to plan for the road ahead.

CODDLE didn’t start with investors or perfect packaging.

It started with women. 🤍

Kitchen formulas. Friends labeling jars on the floor. A scrappy Squarespace site built between feedings. One folding table at our first expo. And so many mothers brave enough to say, “This part was harder than I expected.”

From old-age herbs passed down by our mothers
to friends who held babies so the work could continue
to mamas who trusted us with their healing—

Every chapter led us here.

Awards and features followed, but the mission never changed:
to bring real, plant-based postpartum care back to the mother.

Because postpartum care was never meant to be done alone.
And neither was building CODDLE. 🤍
