Check out our recent publication on a possible mechanism for DRG-S lead fracture. DRG-S leads should be anchored (pooled analysis of 250+ patients coming...) and should be anchored below the membranous (superficial fascial) plane. Doing so can avoid entrapment there, which can ultimately lead to friction and potentially lead fracture.

The authors present a potential mechanism for lead fracture in 4 patients after dorsal root ganglion stimulation implantation through the DRG-S lead becoming entrapped in the superficial fascial plane adjacent to the Touhy needle puncture site https://journals.lww.com/aacr/Fulltext/2020/09000/Dorsal_Root_Ganglion_Stimulation_Lead_Fracture.7.aspx

They say laughter is the best medicine. And that is partially true as laughter releases the neurotransmitter dopamine, which serves as a reward for the brain. Creating a sense of euphoria and playing a pivotal role in our motivation to continue behaviors.
The benefits of laughter include improved immune functioning, stress relief, increased tolerance for pain, improved cardiovascular health, reduced anxiety, and improved mood.
So let’s all stop taking things so seriously and looking for reasons to be offended by humor. For all of our sakes!

Bon Voyage, Bert! Our medical student researcher came from a small village in the Netherlands and raised the bar for all those that follow. Bert showed us that not all millennials are millennials. He was anything but. Hard working, conscientious, diligent, eager to learn, and willing to take on any task. These traits are only going to pay off for this young man as the world is his oyster! 🇱🇺🇺🇸
