Restored. That is crucial, because it implies that wholeness and harmony are already present, the way we're meant to be in community with one another, and with the Divine."

It's a big news day, and focus on the 9/11 attacks 24 years ago may not get much airplay. But the events of that day are an essential component of the pattern of violence wrought by the American Empire, and what happened to fascist Charlie Kirk is just the latest.

What can one do on a day like today, and in the aftermath of such tragedies?

In Sweetness Within the Sorrow (2019) I remembered that "Everyone opened their hearts to each other, worked together to do whatever was needed, and created community out of trauma and tragedy."
Sounds like empathy to me!
I hope it might help you in some way.

Like many of you, people I knew and cared about died on September 11. Yet we also came to life that day. I met neighbors I had never known and found so many sweet, authentic connections. I saw in action what we talk about when we talk about community .

Today in an Alexander lesson I rather offhandedly said, "We are being lied to all day, every day." I said this as a way of expanding the awareness of why we all might be so damn tired all the damn time.

It's exhausting, isn’t it?
Wanting to know and understand what is happening in the world -- and specifically in the USA -- and needing to use some serious energy to determine if what we are hearing and seeing is actual fact.

When everything is a Wag the Dog situation, how can you trust? Is it possible to relax? How dangerous is it to trust anything as true?

Maybe this is how you grew up in your family (hope not). Maybe you discovered later in life how this is the way authoritarian systems work. Maybe you are just now beginning to perceive how you've been lied to and controlled.

Damn, I got tired just writing about it.

This is why conscious rest is so helpful. Can you see how choosing to do nothing in body and mind for 20 minutes could be a skillful way to restore and maintain resilience?
