We now know that a nutritious plant-based diet, exercise and having the love and support of family and friends is the recipe for a happy, healthy life. Yet the majority of Americans find themselves eating poor quality food, from restaurants and fast food establishments or prepared foods from convenience stores and groceries. These foods, high in calories, low in nutrition, containing potentially harmful ingredients along with a sedentary lifestyle are the foundation for illness. Taking medications to relieve the symptoms of a poor diet and lifestyle does not solve the problem and often brings on many negative side affects. People stuff themselves with empty calories, yet their bodies are sick and undernourished and their spirits are drained. Like robots we are programmed into supporting a system that is literally killing us and our planet. Our food system, dependent on animal agriculture, is depleting our resources at alarming rates, destroying the planet and is simply unsustainable. The solutions exist and are relatively simple to incorporate in our personal lives. People need real information, real inspiration and the real tools to move forward. In these challenging times, with government officials ignoring basic constitutional rights, think for a moment about the voiceless, those that can't protest, those that are exploited, tortured and murdered for their flesh. Farm animals raised for food are sensitive, caring individuals and billions every year are subject to cruelty, pain and suffering. And yes, the human workers suffer too, due to unsafe conditions and emotional trauma from the cries of the tortured animals they kill.
