Megan aims to provide quality, specialized treatment at a reasonable rate, with the goal of making effective treatment available to all who need it. As a graduate of Fordham University School of Social Work, she currently serves as a private practitioner focusing on comprehensive DBT—particularly DBT via telehealth—and Somatic Experiencing® work. Outside of her therapy practice, Megan loves exercising and practicing yoga—especially on yoga retreats around the world! She feels most at peace on long scooter rides across the rice paddy fields in Bali, one of her favorite places in the world.

I have spent so much time over the years thinking about relationships—wanting my own to be deeper, more authentic, and more resilient to challenges. When I realized that the most important relationship I needed to be cultivating was my relationship to myself, the game changed.

In this post, I highlight a couple of skills that helped me show up more authentically for myself and for those close to me.

Starting your morning off with things that bring you calm and joy is the best favor you can do for yourself.

By beginning my day with “the hour of power,” I feel refreshed and excited to take on everything I have to do.

I have been so happy to share this practice with my clients and now I want to share it with you, too! Check out the article linked below to read more about one of my favorite practices.

In my last post, I explained a little bit about dialectics and how DBT encourages us to embrace the parts of ourselves that often feel contradictory.

Today, I’m offering a few techniques that I hope will start to help you implement this way of thinking in your life. I use these practices whenever I am feeling uncertain or in need of direction.

Check them out at the link below. I’d love to hear which one of these resonates most with you. 💫

This got me thinking about the Dialectical Behavior Therapy concept of dialectical thinking, and how two seemingly opposing things can both be true at the same time.

Ever wondered what the word “dialectical” in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) means? My latest post explores how working with dialectics can be SO important in overcoming mental health challenges.

My hope is that this work helps you start to feel more comfortable with all of the paradoxes you embody. I, for one, am constantly embracing the tension in my own life between…

💫Frugality and materialism
💫Spiritual reverence and fun
💫Being strong and asking for help
💫Building relationships and spending more time alone

And so many others. What are some seemingly contradictory aspects of yourself that you could practice embracing? I’d love to hear from you.

You are not alone in learning how to be alone.

Finding peace in solitude is something many of us struggle with. It took me years of practice before I really felt like I could be my own best friend, and even now, I sometimes find myself feeling anxious or second-guessing my decisions to spend more time alone.

I know now that true, deep connection to my authentic self was a necessary ingredient in learning how to be at peace by myself.

I’d love to hear about your experience with these feelings and how you manage them.
