Did you know that hugging someone for 20 seconds or more triggers the release of oxytocin?

This hormone helps reduce stress, lift your mood, and strengthen connections with the people you care about. It’s a simple, natural way to feel calmer and closer.

For National Hugging Day, give someone a 20-second hug today, a friend, a family member, or even a loved pet. Small gestures like this one make a big difference🤗

Lately, chronic cough has become more common, sometimes linked to respiratory infections, allergies, post-viral irritation, or even environmental factors. While many cases are harmless, persistent coughing can affect sleep, energy, and daily life.

A cough that lingers for weeks or months isn’t just annoying, it can be a sign of an underlying issue. If a cough lasts more than 8 weeks (or 4 in children), check in with a healthcare professional at www.somoscommunitycare.org.

Blue Monday, is known as the “most depressing day of the year” but, did you know it was actually invented by a travel company to sell holidays in this low post-holiday period? 😲✈️

The idea that one day can determine your mood isn’t scientifically proven, it’s more marketing than fact! So if today feels heavy: your feelings are valid, but they aren’t dictated by a date. Take a moment for yourself, go for a walk, connect with someone you care about, or do something that brings you joy. 💙

Did you know that in the U.S., thousands of people are affected by cervical health issues every year?

Cervical health isn’t something we think about every day but it doesn't always come with clear symptoms. That’s why regular screenings matter so much. Listen to your body, and be aware when something doesn’t feel right.

Early care can prevent serious outcomes and protect long-term health. 💙

January can feel overwhelming: the holidays are over, winter break is done, and it’s time to get back to routine.

Getting back to schedules, work, school, and responsibilities isn’t always easy. Waking up earlier, and finding your focus again, takes a minute, and that’s completely normal.

A few simple tips to make the transition smoother are:
☀️ Reset your sleep schedule gradually, not overnight.
📋 Start one priority at the time instead of trying to do everything at once.
🕒 Build a gentle structure into your day, even if it’s just meal times or a short walk.
🧘 Leave room to breathe with breaks and realistic expectations.

Today we honor Braille, a system that opened the world of reading to millions of people who are blind or visually impaired.

Braille was created in the early 1800s by Louis Braille, who lost his sight as a child, transforming access to education, culture, and independence.

Braille is not just a writing system, it’s access, autonomy, and the right to read for everybody✨📖

As the days get colder, we tend to close windows and turn up the heat, and this makes the indoor air quality decrease, trapping dust, allergens, and with the drier air irritating our throats and respiratory system.

Simple ways to improve the indoor air quality are opening windows briefly each day to refresh the air, using a humidifier to maintain comfortable moisture levels, and cleaning vents and filters regularly to reduce dust and allergens.

Keep in mind these tips to have a safer, healthier, and more comfortable home this winter🌿

The holiday season is full of delicious meals, but indulgence can sometimes lead to feeling uncomfortable.

Here are some tips to enjoy festive feasts without upsetting your digestion:
✅Start with something light, like a salad or a soup, can help prevent overeating.
✅Mind your portions, with smaller plates and mindful bites, enjoying every flavor
✅Stay hydrated, water aids digestion and prevents bloating
✅Eat slowly to give your body time to signal when it’s full
✅Take a gentle walk after meals to help food move and reduce discomfort.

Festive eating is about enjoying moments, not rushing to the last bite. Enjoy and have a happier digestion✨
