Happy Holiday Digestion 🧧 How are you doing today? 🥴

A well-known Chinese proverb for digestion is “Walk 100 steps after each meal, you’ll live to 99” (飯後百步走,活到九十九). This saying reflects the traditional belief that a gentle walk after eating aids digestion, stimulates gastric juices, and can lead to long-term health benefits. Another proverb, “Drink your food and eat your water,” emphasizes the importance of thorough chewing and slowly savoring liquids, respectively.
Also:
“Eat until you are seven parts full”: This is a core principle of mindful eating in Chinese culture.
The Importance of ‘Emptiness’: TCM philosophy suggests keeping a little space empty (around 30%) in the stomach so that the body’s vital energy, or Qi, can effectively digest and process the food. Overeating “taxes our digestive system... and adds to stagnation and dampness”.

🏮 Feeling Grounded With Root Vegetables 🥕 🥔 🫚

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), root vegetables are considered grounding, warming, and nourishing, especially for the digestive system. They are believed to stabilize and strengthen the body, support the spleen and stomach, and are particularly beneficial during autumn and winter to prepare for colder months. Examples include sweet potatoes, carrots, burdock root, and Chinese yam (Shan yao), which is used to support digestion and lung health. Time for some hearty grounding soup!

We clear the fog 🪭

Although not a formal medical diagnosis, brain fog can disrupt your daily life making you feel disconnected and lacking clarity.

Rather than treating it as a mere annoyance, Traditional Chinese Medicine views brain fog as a signal of imbalances within the body, specifically related to the flow of Qi (vital energy), Blood, and organ health.

We see brain fog as a manageable condition when approached holistically. TCM’s view on its causes, and how to address it with natural, balanced approaches such as acupuncture, dietary changes, exercise, and more. Together, we can build a path toward regaining your mental clarity and energy.
