We all heard the Nike catch phrase.

But how many of us actually “just do it”?

We get too wrapped up in the “what ifs?” and “what will people think?”

With the New Year here, take the first step and “just do it”.

Stop worrying about what will likely never happen. Remember that action builds confidence and experience.

When you look back at the journey of your life, will it be filled with steps that you took or steps that you regretted not taking?

Dare to take that step, for a life with no regrets is a life fully lived.

On this Real Talk Friday…

It’s common to feel entitled in today’s world.

This is a MASSIVE problem.

Life has and always will be about earning your keep. It’s about value, not entitlement.

Success and respect are earned and shouldn’t be expected. Whether in your career, relationships, or personal growth, the effort you put in shapes your journey.

When you work hard for something, the satisfaction and pride you feel are unmatched. It's the difference between being given a trophy and winning it.

You need to change your mindset from “what the world owes us” to “what can we offer the world”.

Choose patience and persistence over instant gratification. Earn your stripes through hard work and resilience to achieve true success and fulfillment.

Who hasn’t? Here are some of my best tips to manage study-related stress.

It’s not about studying harder, it’s about studying smarter.

1. Plan Accordingly - Break your study material into manageable chunks. Create a realistic timetable.
2. Take Breaks - Frequent breaks (preferably outside and spearate wfrom what you’re studying)can boost your focus and producitivty.
3. Put Up Your Blinders - Stay focused on the material. If your focus wanders, then check out my focus trick a few posts ago.
4. Seek Support - If you feel the level of stress is really affecting you, close your books or laptop. Take a step back. Talk to someone. Sometimes, just voicing your mind will help get you back on track.

Stress can be tolerated but should never be ignored. Overall, remember that, it is all part of the process of learning.

Spoiler alert - they’re not.

A client of mine (a budding entrepreneur) would tell me that she’s always busy with back-to-back meetings, answering emails, on top of family priorities. But what about her goals and major projects she spoke of? Stagnant.

We worked on prioritizing what was important and what was not, focusing on tasks that would move the needle forward. After 6 months, she reported having achieved more balance in her life and even better, more progress towards achieving the goals she had set.

Productivity is about making intentional choices. It’s doing the right things, not all of the things.

Are you making progress towards your goals or stuck on a hamster wheel?

It’s time to make your efforts count.

Let’s talk about absolute honesty.

Being truthful is difficult, especially in today’s world. Unfiltered honesty is even more challenging.

We’re too worried that we may lose our job or people might not like us. We’re used to sugarcoating our opinions to avoid or impose discomfort.

It’s important to be honest because it builds trust, strengthens personal connections, and fosters self-confidence, creating a solid foundation for genuine progress.

Honesty is a double-edged sword. It can be beneficial, but it can also be painful. However, if you avoid saying things that could cause trouble for yourself or your loved ones, you will realize that honesty is indeed the best policy.

Start small and practice on those close to you.

Remember that honesty is not about being harsh or condescending, but rather about being real and authentic.

Certainly, we all have our personal preferences. I’ve always been a solo study person because I wanted to minimize as much distraction as possible.

However, both methods or studying alone or in a group have their pros and cons…

Group Study:
Pros:
- Collaboration can enhance understanding through discussion
- Members can hold each other accountable
- Diverse perspectives can enhance the material understanding
Cons:
- Group dynamics can lead to distractions
- Study pace may be too slow or too fast
- Risk of reliance on others for learning

Solo Study:
Pros:
- Complete control over study environment and pace
- Easier to focus without external distractions
- Develops self-reliance in learning
Cons:
- Can feel isolating
- No immediate help or feedback
- Risk of misunderstanding material without external input

Depending on your learning style and subject matter, the best approach is entirely up to you. Try both and see what works best for you!

I understand the whole mindset that the more information you handle, the more productive you’ll be. But ask yourself, “Am I even focusing on doing good work? Am I really being productive?”

Here are a few tips on how to manage the deluge of information better…

- Prioritize: Not all messages need immediate attention. Sort your communications by urgency and importance.
- Set Boundaries: Allocate specific times for checking and responding to emails and messages. It’s OK to say NO.
- Clear & Concise: Have a bunch of emails and messages to respond to? Be direct in your communication. Clear messages reduce the need for back-and-forth.
- Delegate: If possible, delegate certain types of communication to your team or an assistant.
- Detox: Regularly disconnect from work to recharge your head.
- Reassess & Adjust: Regularly do a systems review and see what can be adjusted and optimized.

By implementing these tips, you can become a productivity powerhouse!

The best way to overcome negative thoughts is to acknowledge them head on.

Don’t fight them. The more you do, the more they grow and pester.

Acknowledging your thoughts means that you are recognizing that they are the problem, not the situation itself.

Your thoughts are a personal and specific reaction to the issue that you are dealing with.

You control your response and your opinions, not the situation.

You have the power to change your current state and trajectory.
