Psychology Today has finally given a shout out to singing and mental health. It's only available in the magazine, so I can't share it, but here are some of my thoughts on it. Enjoy!

Now that Psychology Today is citing this, is utilizing singing for mental health finally considered legitimate? Okay, okay, I'm being cheeky here. OMG! How 'bout them Mets? How about that song? Here are some thoughts about how "OMG" turned an abysmal team into one contending for the National League Championship! LGM!

Years ago I was really into baseball but I just got so busy with other things in life, my interest just waned and I stopped paying attention. We've worked hard to get this bill on Governor Hochul's desk. We need to have the same parity as our mental health counterparts! Really hope this happens.

Today is World Mental Health Day. I wrote a few things about it when I found out. Check it out!

World Mental Health Day is October 10th, the day of this writing. I didn't know about it, but being a health care professional, it was brought to my attention (this year, anyway!) Take a look at my past blog about Mental Health Awareness Month and you'll get an idea of my sense of humor around such....

My latest blog post. Sing in September! And forever. It's good for you (it's different than eating your broccoli!)

As a very young child in nursery school I chose solitary activities rather than interactive ones. For years, I thought that I just went through a shy period, but now I believe it was related to the fact that I was born two months early. When I studied Human Development as part of my pre-requisites f...

Check out my blog post which spotlights the transgender community during May's Mental Health Awareness month.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to honor and recognize the transgender and genderqueer communities. Transgender individuals face unique mental health challenges related to their gender identity and experiences. Like any oppressed group of people, transgender individuals have so man...

My hero Harry Belafonte died a couple of weeks ago. I wrote this blog post about his influence on me as a child and about the meanings of songs back in 2020. Here it is!

Songs have power, meaning, and context to time and place, can transcend time and place. They are critical in music therapy work.
