💤 Dreaming of that perfect night's sleep?

Here are some tips to help you catch those Zzz's:

1️⃣ Create your own zen during evening hours by dimming the lights, watching a TV show, listening to relaxing music, chatting with loved ones, or whatever soothes your soul.

2️⃣ Try adding a magnesium supplement 20 minutes before bedtime. Or you can try taking a bath with Epsom salt. The skin is the body's biggest organ that we absorb things through. Plus, taking a warm bath is a great way to unwind and decompress at the end of a long day.

3️⃣ If you are someone who experiences sleep disruption from stress and or anxiety, try using an herbal blend (can be done through essential oils) to combat any of these feelings that may be disrupting your sleep. This can help regulate your cortisol levels.

4️⃣ Try to keep your blood sugar balanced throughout the day to avoid nighttime disruptions. Your daily activities actually have an impact on your sleep quality. Ever notice those midnight wake-up calls after a heavy dinner? Yep, that could be the cortisol drop talking.

Ideally, it would be best to work with an integrative medicine physician and perform comprehensive diagnostic blood testing two times a year or more.

Even a little bit of exercise can have a powerful impact on how long you live—it has the amazing ability to prevent chronic disease and delay or even reverse cognitive decline. Exercise improves cardiovascular health, builds muscular strength, and produces a molecule called BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) which helps with learning and memory. 🏋🏽‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️💪🏾🧠

I first picked up Dr. Peter Attia’s book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity” earlier this year and I’ve read it many times since. His perspective on living longer—and better—is a driving force behind my own integrative medicine philosophy at Nabella Health, and I turn to his teachings daily in my practice.

Here’s what really struck me:

In his introduction, Dr. Attia discusses the Hippocratic Oath of “DO NO HARM”, which he classifies as "Medicine 2.0". Too often, Medicine 2.0 intervenes with treatments too late to help, prolonging lifespan at the expense of healthspan, or sacrificing quality of life.

In short, Medicine 2.0 treats the symptoms, not the root cause. It’s time for Medicine 3.0.

Dr. Attia stresses the need for Medicine 3.0 to focus on the prevention of chronic disease, empowering you to optimize your health across five key pillars for maximal longevity:
