Facial fat transfer, sometimes called fat grafting, is a procedure that takes fat from one area of your body and injects it into the face to restore volume. Common areas include the cheeks, temples, under the eyes, and jawline.

The procedure begins with gently harvesting fat from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs using a small cannula. This step is similar to very conservative liposuction. The harvested fat is then processed to remove excess fluid, oil, and other impurities. This refined fat is what will be used for injection into the face.

Facial fat transfer can be combined with other procedures, such as facelift, neck lift, or eyelid surgery, to address both skin laxity and volume loss at the same time. It can also complement nonsurgical treatments like laser resurfacing, injections, or energy-based treatments.
