The low FODMAP diet is not a long term eating plan, it’s a short term detective tool. Working with an RD is imperative to ensure you’re doing it effectively and in the healthiest way possible. Otherwise, you could be doing more harm than good by:

🍃restricting too many foods indiscriminately leading to poor energy, mood and other unwanted side effects
🍃limiting gut-friendly prebiotics necessary to feed good gut bacteria
🍃not getting to the root cause of the issues or figuring out what’s the real problem

We want the honesty, even when it feels uncomfortable.

If you ever left a session feeling discouraged or misunderstood, it’s a sign that you haven’t been heard enough in the way you deserve to be.

We’re here to guide and support you, not judge and criticize you. However dietitians are not perfect, nor are they mind readers. It takes time to break barriers, put down the walls and really go there. Before you meet with a dietitian, ask yourself the following:

1. What has and hasn’t helped me in the past?
2. How am I feeling about my progress? Can I be doing more?
3. What are my biggest challenges and barriers at this point?
4. Am I being honest with my dietitian, and more importantly with myself?

We are thrilled to welcome Kendra Tolbert MS, RDN, RYT, an award-winning registered dietitian nutritionist and registered yoga teacher to The NY Nutrition Group.

Kendra is also a certified aromatherapist specializing in fertility and preconception preparation.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Howard University and her Master of Science in Nutrition and Public Health from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Kendra has experience helping individuals, families, and communities make improvements to their well-being and quality of life by adopting healthier habits. She has been featured on and written for a number of websites and media outlets including Women’s Health, Glamour, Fit Pregnancy, and Good Morning Washington.
