Elbow pain isn’t one-size-fits-all. Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow may sound similar, but they affect different structures and benefit from different treatment approaches—something hand therapy is uniquely trained to address.

🔹 Tennis Elbow
Pain is felt on the outside of the elbow, where the wrist extensor tendons attach. It’s often linked to repetitive gripping or wrist extension.

• Top images show tennis elbow and the recommended kinesiotaping pattern

🔹 Golfer’s Elbow
Pain is felt on the inside of the elbow, where the wrist flexor tendons attach. This is commonly associated with repetitive wrist flexion, gripping, or forearm rotation.

• Bottom images show golfer’s elbow and the recommended kinesiotaping pattern

Kinesiotaping can help support irritated tissues, reduce strain, and encourage more efficient movement during daily activities and recovery.

At H&D Physical Therapy, our OT/Hand Therapy services focus on individualized care—combining education, therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, activity modification, and supportive tools like taping to address the root cause of pain and restore hand, wrist, and elbow function.

Your sense of balance starts in the inner ear, where tiny crystals (called otoconia) play a key role in detecting movement and position. When these crystals become dislodged or move out of place, they can send mixed signals to the brain, leading to symptoms like:
• Vertigo
• Dizziness
• Imbalance
• Nausea

In these images, you’ll see models of the inner ear highlighting where balance crystals are located, along with virtual reality (VR) technology used during vestibular therapy to safely challenge the balance system. At H&D Physical Therapy, we use vestibular rehabilitation, including visual stimulation tools like VR, to help retrain the brain and inner ear to work together again. These controlled environments allow patients to gradually improve tolerance to movement, reduce dizziness, and restore confidence with daily activities. Balance is trainable, and with the right guidance, recovery is possible. To learn more, contact us today!

At H&D Physical Therapy, every treatment plan is tailored to each patient’s unique goals and needs. In today’s spotlight, PT Christian is working with a patient to improve shoulder stability—a key component of pain-free, confident movement.

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the body, which also makes it more vulnerable to injury. Proper stability depends on strong, well-coordinated muscles working together to support everyday movements and athletic performance.

Through personalized exercises and hands-on care, our team helps patients rebuild strength, restore confidence, and safely return to the activities they love. Don’t just take our word for it—our patients’ results speak for themselves.

Discomfort around your tailbone (coccydynia) isn’t just annoying; it can affect your daily activities, including sitting, standing, and even walking. Did you know that this type of pain can often be linked to pelvic floor muscle tension and imbalances? These muscles attach near the tailbone and play a key role in supporting your pelvic organs. When they’re tight or not functioning properly, tailbone pain can result.

At H&D Physical Therapy, our pelvic floor specialists focus on treating the root causes of tailbone pain. We use personalized approaches, such as soft-tissue and myofascial release, targeted stretches, movement retraining, and relaxation techniques, to reduce tension. We also guide you on posture and core support strategies to help restore comfort and improve your overall mobility. Tailbone pain doesn’t have to linger. With expert assessment and care, you can reduce discomfort and get back to your daily life pain-free.

Our South Slope team truly went above and beyond, lending a helping hand to neighbors in need by digging out our local community after the recent storm. Huge shoutout to our clinical director, Grace (channeling those Canadian roots), Kiara, our patient care coordinator, and our PTs, Christian and TJ, for stepping up.

Among the neighbors our team helped was Gio, owner of Luigi’s Pizza 🍕. And the sweetest part? Another grateful neighbor stopped back with a cheesecake as a heartfelt thank-you 🍰

Community care at its finest—supporting our neighbors, inside and outside the clinic.

Targeted strengthening is a cornerstone of effective physical therapy. This exercise emphasizes activating the glutes and core muscles—key stabilizers for the lower back, hips, and pelvis. When performed correctly, it can help improve posture, reduce spinal strain, and enhance overall stability during everyday movements.

Benefits of glute and core activation include:

* Improved posture and spinal alignment
* Increased hip and pelvic stability
* Reduced risk of lower-back strain and injury
* Enhanced balance and functional movement
* Support for safe, efficient performance in daily activities and sports

At H&D Physical Therapy, exercises like this are carefully chosen and supervised to match each patient’s goals and ability level. Our goal is to help you build strength safely, protect your joints, and promote long-term movement health and injury prevention.

Balance and stability start from the ground up. Lower-leg strength and control play a critical role in how we move, absorb force, and maintain balance during everyday activities and higher-level movement. Our newest Midtown PT, Sofia Appel, demonstrates targeted lower-leg balance and stability exercises designed to build a strong, responsive foundation from the feet up.

These exercises are essential for improving movement quality and supporting long-term function by helping to:

* Enhance balance, coordination, and proprioception
* Strengthen the muscles that support the feet, ankles, and lower legs
* Improve joint stability and dynamic control during movement
* Reduce the risk of falls and lower-extremity injuries
* Support efficient movement patterns for walking, running, and sport

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing instability, or working to stay active and confident on your feet, consistent balance training helps create a stronger foundation—so every step feels more controlled, powerful, and secure.
