Dearest community... as we attended the anti-ICE protest this weekend at the Los Angeles Detention center, it was a reminder that we are not alone in how we are feeling. Many of us are carrying more than we were ever meant to carry alone. The pace of the world, the constant stream of distressing news, and the quiet erosion of community have left even the most grounded among us feeling tired, scattered, or numb.
If the world has felt heavy lately, you’re not alone. This summer, we're gathering a small group in Vermont for a few days of grounded presence, shared meals, time in nature, and honest rest. This isn't an escape from what’s happening...but to remember how to stay human inside it. It would be an honor to host some of you from this group and share beautiful vegan New England style meals together while being immersed in nature and surrounded by animal friends.
This retreat is for people who care deeply about animals, the planet, and the state of the world and who are realizing that sustained compassion requires rest, reflection, and community. It’s a place to land, not to fix yourself. After the last Vermont retreat, I organically started my mornings humming to music instead of turning on Instagram/Threads immediately to get my daily fix of toxic news.
We designed this retreat as an act of maintenance for the heart and nervous system, especially for those of you who give a lot to others and to the world.
Also if you have traveled with us before, this retreat may be a good fit if you’re craving quiet connection rather than constant stimulation, depth rather than fleeting experiences, and community rooted in shared ethics and mindfulness. It’s intentionally small, unhurried, and designed for people who want to be around others who care.
