Cooking in community is what will help veganism grow 🌱 we learned this in Oaxaca, Mexico on one of the group tours. It took us 6 hours to grind the corn, make the flour, salsa and one mole 😅 but it felt like a cooking party 💃🏽

New Webinar this Friday: Is Veganism Dying? A Global Perspective with Kim and Prachi

We've loved doing our online webinars "happy hour" with you all and are back for another one on February 6th at 5 PM ET. Join Kim Giovacco and myself on Zoom for a lively discussion.

Lately, we’ve been hearing the question more and more: Is veganism dying? From restaurant closures and social media discourse, it can certainly seem that way. Kim and Prachi invite you to discuss a bigger picture of veganism and plant-based living from around the world. As we've traveled with you through communities around the world—cooking with local families, visiting markets, working with farmers, and sharing meals across cultures... there seems to be a much more nuanced story. In this webinar, we discuss what’s actually happening: where plant-based traditions are quietly thriving, where the movement is changing form, why restaurants and businesses are closing and what this moment is asking of us as part of a larger vegan community and family.

Are you interested in our North India tour? Apparently a theory is going around that India was to millennials what Japan is to Gen Z. Millennials loved chai instead of matcha, self-discovery like Eat, Pray, Love style, yoga instead of pilates and movies like Slumdog Millionaire. How about you? Is India on your bucket list?

Join Ahimsa Travel Club on a colorful vegan getaway in Oaxaca, Mexico nestled in a fertile valley of the Sierra Madre Sur Mountains. We’re taking you through Oaxaca City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, full of Zapotec culture, culinary traditions and the art of slow cooking, bustling markets overflowing with handcrafted treasures, and the aroma of fragrant mole wafting from street vendors. Beyond the city, ancient Zapotec ruins like Monte Albán and Mitla stand proudly, whispering tales of a rich cultural heritage. Immerse yourself in the local communities, where time and life seems to slow down. Witness the meticulous handcrafting of clay pottery, cacao production and lose yourself in the rhythmic sounds of traditional music and parades filling the streets. All the while, we’ll be eating our way through the best vegan restaurants around the city. Allow us to show you our next favorite city in Mexico, but with a vegan lens.

Dearest community... as we attended the anti-ICE protest this weekend at the Los Angeles Detention center, it was a reminder that we are not alone in how we are feeling. Many of us are carrying more than we were ever meant to carry alone. The pace of the world, the constant stream of distressing news, and the quiet erosion of community have left even the most grounded among us feeling tired, scattered, or numb.

If the world has felt heavy lately, you’re not alone. This summer, we're gathering a small group in Vermont for a few days of grounded presence, shared meals, time in nature, and honest rest. This isn't an escape from what’s happening...but to remember how to stay human inside it. It would be an honor to host some of you from this group and share beautiful vegan New England style meals together while being immersed in nature and surrounded by animal friends.

This retreat is for people who care deeply about animals, the planet, and the state of the world and who are realizing that sustained compassion requires rest, reflection, and community. It’s a place to land, not to fix yourself. After the last Vermont retreat, I organically started my mornings humming to music instead of turning on Instagram/Threads immediately to get my daily fix of toxic news.

We designed this retreat as an act of maintenance for the heart and nervous system, especially for those of you who give a lot to others and to the world.

Also if you have traveled with us before, this retreat may be a good fit if you’re craving quiet connection rather than constant stimulation, depth rather than fleeting experiences, and community rooted in shared ethics and mindfulness. It’s intentionally small, unhurried, and designed for people who want to be around others who care. If this calls to you, feel free to explore the itinerary here: https://www.escapeto.in/escape-to-vermont

Long before Spanish colonization, the people of Peru developed a diet and culture centered on the bounty of the earth. The ordinary Inca diet was largely vegetarian.. meat was a rare luxury reserved for ceremonies and special occasions. Instead, everyday meals featured hearty plant foods all of which we got to try on our Vegan Adventure in Peru: potatoes, corn, quinoa, beans, squash, and roots cultivated in diverse climates. The Incas inherited and enriched an agricultural heritage from earlier civilizations, domesticating an astounding variety of crops...like 4,000 varieties of potatoes. Stay tuned for the 2026 edition of our vegan group tour in Peru 🇵🇪

Shibuya Crossing in Japan filled us with happiness. The amount of people that get so happy to cross this street causes an energy vortex that is contagious. Shibuya Crossing teaches you that you can either be grumpy about life, large crowds and other humans or you can laugh, dance or jump your way across the other side being carried by a wave of other humans. We 💕 you crazy Tokyo.
