Our third-year PT students had a fantastic training day at , a community dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities across all ages. Every year, Lisa Yoon, DPT brings our third year Advanced Seminar in Pediatrics students to learn firsthand about adaptive equipment and how to evaluate and prescribe the right tools for their future patients.

Rifton prepared a full educational agenda for us, from a behind-the-scenes tour of their facility and meeting the designers and fabricators, and getting hands-on practice with their equipment.

Students also took part in a simulation exercise using case studies, customizing equipment for their case patient. They worked with the Rifton Stander, Activity Chair, Adaptive Tricycle, and the E-Pacer - turning classroom knowledge into real-world clinical skills.

On October 23, 2025, hosted its 12th Lindenauer Lecture featuring a lecture and panel on Aging and Developmental Disabilities.

Guest speaker Dr. Edward Hurvitz  discussed new research on adults with and a need to address chronic conditions such as pain and mental health, and engage the CP community in shaping research and services.

In a panel discussion, clinicians and community members addressed topics such as the transition from pediatric to adult services, the lack of disability training in medical and nursing education, and the need for care that evolves with patients’ changing needs.

A highlight of the evening was remarks from Javier Santiago, MPA, an adult living with cerebral palsy, whose personal story offered insight into the day-to-day experiences of adults with CP. Adults with CP in the audience also shared their experiences, adding powerful voices to the conversation.

The main takeaway from the discussion is the need for more education on and for health systems and communities to adapt to a generation living longer, fuller lives with CP.

Happy World Cerebral Day! 💚💚💚

Cerebral palsy is the most common lifelong physical disability, affecting a person‘s ability to walk, move, or communicate. It is caused by an injury to the developing brain, but every individual’s experience with cerebral palsy is unique. Every story is different, but our community stands together—unique and united.

On this we’re sharing some highlights of our past CP Community where we came together to unite and celebrate our uniqueness!

Share with us on what makes you unique! 💚💚💚
