Let’s talk about rest first:
Don’t.
And now unnecessary surgeries:
Don’t.

But actually, complete rest is very ill advised, and yet still prescribed 😖 Instead we should focus on ACTIVE rest. This is still moving and doing things that DO NOT cause pain. And trust me, there are things that don’t cause pain.
But this is important as it can help regulate fluid and joint stiffness and keep atrophy rates low.
Hurt your knee? Move your toes and ankle.
Shoulder hurts? Move your neck!

I had a patient come in with a broken collar bone and you better believe I had him moving!! can attest to this 😂❤️

The second is overprescribed surgeries. The amount of people who come through my doors that have said “my Dr recommends surgery” and then we take it off the table is ASTRONOMICAL. Sometimes surgery is necessary, everyone’s situation is different, however!! there are so many procedures that could’ve and should’ve been avoided 🤕

Just this past week we prevented 3 surgeries 🕺🏻🕺🏻

There are 2 things that matter for most musculoskeletal/neuromuscular injuries:
☝️A Progressive movement program relative to the persons current baseline/ability
✌️Adequate providers that know how to get to the root cause of the issue
