Blurry Corporate Background

I had the opportunity to sit down with Cathy O’Brien,
host of Inside the Wellspace, to talk about why
dermatologic care should be part of comprehensive
cancer care — not an afterthought.

Cancer therapies place real stress on the skin, hair, and
nails. When these changes are ignored, patients suffer
unnecessarily. When they’re addressed early, outcomes
improve — both medically and emotionally.

Oncodermatology focuses on protecting the skin
barrier, reducing inflammation, supporting healing, and
helping patients stay comfortable during and after
treatment. This is not cosmetic care. It’s essential care.

I’m deeply grateful to Cathy for creating space for this
conversation, and I feel privileged to work alongside my
patients to help them feel supported, informed, and
whole throughout their treatment journey.

Winter ends before your skin fully adjusts.

As temperatures and humidity change, the products
that worked in winter may feel heavy or congesting in
spring.

Seasonal skin needs seasonal adjustments.

Hydration matters for your overall health — but it isn’t a
cure for acne or other skin conditions.

Clear skin comes from consistency, targeted
treatments, and understanding what your skin actually
needs.

Winter can be harsh on your skin — dryness, flaking,
and irritation are all common this time of year.

In this TODAY segment, I talk through winter skincare
basics: gentle exfoliation when appropriate, hyaluronic
acid for hydration, fragrance-free moisturizers with
ceramides, and sunscreen — even in winter.

Why your skin behaves on vacation isn’t magic — it’s
biology.

Lower stress changes how your skin functions. When
cortisol drops, inflammation drops too. That’s why
routines that support your skin barrier and your
nervous system matter more than chasing trends.

Glycolic acid can be a game-changer — when it’s used
correctly.

This alpha-hydroxy acid helps exfoliate, smooth
texture, brighten skin tone, and support clearer pores —
but more isn’t better. Consistency and concentration
matter.

As featured in Glamour, I share how glycolic acid works
and why it remains a dermatologist favorite for glow,
acne prevention, and uneven tone.

✨ Gentle exfoliation

✨ Real results

✨ No overdoing it

Gen Z wants the glow without the sunburn — and dermatologists are all for it.
Self-tanners, bronzing drops, and SPF hybrids are giving a safer shortcut to color without UV damage.
Here’s the derm truth:
✨ A real tan = skin injury.
✨ A faux glow = totally safe.
DHA-based tanners, gradual bronzers, and tinted SPF gels are all smart ways to add warmth while keeping your barrier and DNA protected.
Just skip tanning beds, “base tans,” and anything promising color without SPF.
Want my breakdown of the safest bronzing ingredients? Comment GLOW. 💛

Do Pimple Patches Actually Work?
Star patches look cute — but here’s the science:

✅ Works for surface whiteheads
✅ Reduces picking + helps healing
❌ Does NOT help cystic or hormonal acne

Dr. Lamb’s advice:
“Use patches overnight for whiteheads — deeper acne needs active treatments instead.”

Scars are normal — and you can improve how they look at home (most of the time). The key is using the right approach for the right scar… and not overdoing it.
One of the biggest takeaways?
“Many studies show that Vaseline and Aquaphor tend to be the best (for treating wounds).” — Dr. Lamb
If you’re treating scars at home, focus on:
✔ keeping skin moisturized while healing
✔ silicone once the skin is closed
✔ sunscreen daily
✔ patience (think weeks to months, not days)

Skin Cycling 3.0 — TikTok vs. Dermatology
TikTok keeps reinventing skin cycling — but your barrier still comes first.

Dr. Lamb-approved cycle:
Day 1 → Exfoliate
Day 2 → Retinol
Day 3–4 → Repair & hydrate

✨ Consistency beats complicated routines — every time.

Face Yoga vs. Anti-Wrinkle Science
Face yoga, gua sha, massage — do these trends really replace clinical skincare?

What’s real:
✅ Temporary de-puffing
✅ Improved lymph flow
✅ Muscle relaxation

What’s not:
❌ Permanent wrinkle repair
❌ Collagen replacement

Dr. Lamb’s truth:
“Face yoga can complement skincare — but it can’t replace evidence-based treatments.”

Underarm Skincare Is the New Face Care
Brightening serums and chemical exfoliants are trending for underarms — but less is more.

What helps:
✅ Gentle exfoliation
✅ Niacinamide for tone
✅ Acid-based deodorants

What harms:
⚠️ Daily acids
⚠️ Aggressive scrubbing
⚠️ Layering too many actives
Dr. Lamb says:
“Treat your underarms gently — less irritation means better results.”
