Adults with autism struggle with sensory stimuli, including taste, texture, touch, light, temperature, and sound.

Do you know a Neurotypical? Do they actually exist? I think everybody’s dealing with something, and everybody’s struggling in their own way with mental health issues, so I don’t think the word "neurotypical" is appropriate. There’s no normal. This is why I invented the word mythical. Because the myth of normal prevails. And leads to shame if you have a mental illness.

Many autistic adults rehearse conversations ahead of time—often called “scripting.”
It’s a coping tool that helps manage social rules, reduce anxiety, organize thoughts, and communicate clearly in an unpredictable world. It’s not manipulation—it’s preparation. And not everyone scripts. Neurodivergent communication is diverse. 💛

Routines look different for neurodivergent adults.
Autistic adults often rely on routine for predictability and reduced anxiety. ADHD brains benefit from routines too—but they need flexibility. AuDHD lives in the push-pull between structure and novelty. There’s no one right way—only what works for your brain. 💛

Do you have a teenager struggling to thrive? Or maybe a young adult who is home all day and can’t launch because they’re overwhelmed by their fears. I believe an entire generation was negatively affected by Covid.

Getting a formal ADHD assessment is not that hard and not that time-consuming and not that expensive.

Is talking with a loud voice a symptom of autism?
Not always—but it can happen for some autistic people.

Why Loud Speech Happens in Autism:
1. Sensory Processing Differences
Some autistic individuals have trouble regulating how loud they sound. They may not realize their voice is loud or may raise their volume to cope with noisy, overwhelming environments.

2. Social Communication Challenges
Autistic people may have difficulty gauging the “right” volume for different situations or may experience differences in prosody (tone, rhythm, and pitch), which can lead to louder or atypical speech.

Everyone’s experience is different, but loud speech can be part of how an autistic person communicates and processes the world.

Why do psychologists or Psychiatrists say, “I think you might be autistic?” Or I think you might have ADHD?

12/02/2025

Phone calls remove the visual cues that autistic people often rely on to understand tone and intent. With only voice to go by, sarcasm, emotion, and nuance become harder to interpret.

Audio-only input can also be overwhelming—background noise, delays, or poor sound quality increase sensory load and stress. Plus, phone calls demand quick responses and fast turn-taking, which can be challenging when extra processing time is needed.

Not seeing the other person creates uncertainty and anxiety, and without context or body language, jokes, idioms, and indirect language can be easily misread.

Many autistic people prefer text or video calls because they offer clarity, control, and more time to process.

This is why AI won't replace your therapist. Good therapists challenge you at times.

Don’t know what to say when somebody tells you bad news? You can always say this phrase. “I’m really sorry to hear that.”
