She specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of simple as well as complex foot and ankle issues, fractures and deformities. Many of our patients come in with ACL injuries. Do you know what symptoms to look out for?

When you injure your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), you might hear a "popping" noise and you may feel your knee give out from under you. Other typical symptoms include:
Pain with swelling. Within 24 hours, your knee will swell. If ignored, the swelling and pain may resolve on its own. However, if you attempt to return to sports, your knee will probably be unstable and you risk causing further damage to the cushioning cartilage (meniscus) of your knee.
Loss of full range of motion
Tenderness along the joint line
Discomfort while walking

Do you have trouble opening jars or bottles? Do you feel like you just don’t have grip or pinch strength in your hands anymore? Are you aching at the base of your thumb?
One of the most common hand problems as we mature is basal joint arthritis, or arthritis of the hand/wrist at the base of the thumb. The cartilage tends to wear in this joint, and we get aching or even sharp pain with use of our thumbs. We have trouble with door handles, jars, and bottles. We feel it when we crochet, garden, sail, golf—pretty much any activity!

Most problems in the shoulder involve the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, rather than the bones. Athletes are especially susceptible to shoulder problems. In athletes, shoulder problems can develop slowly through repetitive, intensive training routines

Some people will have a tendency to ignore the pain and "play through" a shoulder injury, which only aggravates the condition, and may possibly cause more problems. People also may underestimate the extent of their injury because steady pain, weakness in the arm, or limitation of joint motion will become almost second nature to them.
