Lately I have been asked by a few patients "What can chiropractic do to help my family and me?" I would like to share with you what the families that come and see me have stated. They tell me the best part of care is all the other fringe benefits they receive from being adjusted that they would have never associated with Chiropractic care. I have been told that the family suffers with fewer colds and flu’s than they used to. I also have been told that they have more energy than they’ve had in years and can do more now in less time.

How is this possible? First you need to understand that the central focus of Chiropractic is not back pain, but the function of your nervous system. Once you learn how your nervous system interacts from your brain through your spinal cord to how it affects every organ in your body even your immune system, you begin to understand how this is all possible.

With the start of school, cooler weather and cold and flu season, it is a good idea to get adjusted to keep your whole system working to the best it can.

That is why I always say, "it is easier to prevent a problem than fix one, get adjusted for health"!

This is what a patient wrote on her Facebook post today. This what makes it all worth it. Thank you!!!!

"I want to publicly thank my chiropractor Greg Werner of Werner Chiropractic, PC. http://www.drgregwerner.com/
After seeing him for 6 years, through many issues, I didn't think anything could BLOW MY MIND; but Sybil had been really struggling with constipation, and it got really bad in the last month. I've done it all: cut apples, bananas and all grains completely - prunes, pear, peaches etc, coconut oil every day. Everything. These things DID help but it was still a struggle every few days and she'd scream about 15-20 min. At the same time she was just generally cranky and I thought it was her sleep schedule, or all the traveling we did a month ago, then I thought maybe separation anxiety started early? I went to see Greg Tuesday and asked him to look at her, almost as an after thought. He said WHOA, her back is really tight and adjusted her. He even called the next day to check on her. Since then I have had a different child. She has pooped THREE times since then, which is the most she has pooped in a week AND it's not a rock hard ball anymore. It's like her insides are able to work properly now . (Sorry non parents but hey everybody poops!) But more importantly she is so HAPPY. Wednesday was the first morning in a month she woke up smiling. When I lay her on her back to change her she never cries and smiles and talks to me. When I set her down she plays with toys calmly just like she used to. It's like I have my old girl back. I wish I brought her to Greg three weeks ago but I hadn't even thought of it. I guess that tight back was just affecting everything. I would NEVER go to a chiropractor that was not recommended to me. People really do get serious injuries from bad Chiropractic adjustments. But over the years I have become a serious believer in Chiropractic care because I felt the difference in my own life and seen in with my kid's. Our society don't talk about it enough and I am frankly just so blown away by how happy Sybil is and how pooping is no big deal for her now. I mean for a baby, that eats sleeps and poops, this literally changed her life. Thank you Greg! (and thanks to Jeanne Grant Johnson with the assist for introducing me!)"

Safyre is a special girl. She was at Westchester Medical center and Angelica Grangeiro got to know her well. She and her sister Anna Poniros-Giorgi and many more would visit her in the hospital and read to her. She was at Angies wedding where I got to meet her. She is full of life and hope. Please help her fill her small christmas wish by sending her a card.
Thanks for reading this and hopefully you share it too.

As usual my wonderful smart MS RD trained wife delivers a great post.

We have all heard ad nauseum that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And I am certainly not going to dispute that. What I am going to acknowledge is that most of us don't always have time to sit down to a healthy, hearty breakfast in the morning. We either end up skipping breakfast altogether (never a good idea), or just grabbing the quickest and/or easiest option - which, in all likelihood, may not necessarily be the most nourishing option.

Let me introduce you to OVERNIGHT OATS. This is seriously the answer to all your breakfast dilemmas! It's yummy. It's satisfying. It's nourishing. It's got protein. It's got healthy fats and Omega 3s. It's got complex carbs/fiber to keep you sated and fueled. Best of all, it is convenient. And, as the name implies, you can prepare it in about 5 minutes the night before and - voilà! - in the morning you literally have the perfect breakfast...to eat in or take with you on the go!

Here's a basic recipe* and this is what you do:
In the evening you need -
1/3 - 1/2 cup regular rolled oats
3/4 - 1 cup milk of choice (I use almond milk or oat milk)
1-2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 ripe banana, mashed with a fork
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Mix these ingredients together in a bowl if you plan on eating at home in the morning, or in a mason jar or other container if you plan on taking it to go, and leave it in the fridge overnight.

In the morning -
Remove from fridge and top with a dollop of nut or seed butter (I used raw almond butter) and a drizzle of either maple syrup, honey, or agave.

You can also top with a few sprinkles of cinnamon or brown sugar, actual nuts or seeds instead of the butter, chopped apples, raisins, berries, shredded coconut, granola, or even cacao nibs (or chocolate chips). Go ahead and get creative! The possibilities are endless!

And, yes. You do eat this cold. Which may sound weird for an oatmeal. But I promise you, it's totally delish!

For my gluten free friends, I haven't actually experimented with gluten free oats yet, but I imagine it works just as well. I will have to give it a try and report back....

So instead of another bowl of cereal, or that bagel (oh come on, admit it, I know some of you still eat them!), that muffin, or even more eggs, why don't you switch things up with this easy, convenient breakfast that is so satisfying and yummy, you might just forget that it's heart healthy, high in fiber and protein, and packed with vitamins and minerals.

Suddenly breakfast isn't just the most important meal of the day, it will now be your favorite meal of the day!
