Our Story
Community Mayors for Special Children is the only group that provides days of fun in the sun and excitement creating happy smiles and pleasant dreams in the lives of children with special needs in our City. Your patronage helps us continue to provide these events for the children that need us most in our communities.
Events we sponsor each year are: The Bronx Zoo, Prospect Park and Staten Island Zoos; St. John’s University Athletes & Kids; Deno’s Wonder Wheel; Luna Park and Adventurer’s Family Entertainment Center in Coney Island: the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum: A Halloween Party at Floyd Bennett Field Historic Aircraft Restoration Project; Earth Day planting at the Conference House on Staten Island: the Dominick Della Rocca Summer Camp Scholarship Program
Our premier event for 4,000 children with special needs is “Operation Santa Claus” in an air craft hangar at JFK International Airport. All of these events are coordinated and managed by our team of volunteers; the Community Mayors have no paid staff and 2,000 volunteers. All of the money we raise is used for the benefit of the children.
