Community Mayors, Inc. 1875 Events we sponsor each year are: Ringling Bros. All of the money we raise is used for the benefit of the children.

Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden; The Bronx Zoo; the Prospect Park and Staten Island Zoos; St. John’s University Athletes & Kids; Deno’s Wonder Wheel; A Halloween Party at Floyd Bennett Field Historic Aircraft Restoration Project; Adventurer’s Family Entertainment Center; the Dominick Della Rocca Summer Camp Scholarship Program and this year is our first Luna Park Adventure. Our premier event for 4,500 children with special needs is “Operation Santa Claus” in an air craft hangar at JFK International Airport. All of these events are coordinated and managed by our team of volunteers; the Community Mayors have no paid staff and 2,000 volunteers.

Happy Birthday to Shelley Dell Rocca 🤍🎉

Today we celebrate not only Shelley’s birthday, but the beautiful legacy she continues to inspire through love, inclusion, and community. Through her dad’s heartfelt leadership with the Community Mayors for Children with Special Needs, her spirit lives on in a mission that makes a real difference every single day.

The Community Mayors stand for compassion in action — reminding us that no one is so tall as when they stoop to help a child with special needs. Their work creates opportunities, raises awareness, and builds a stronger, more inclusive community where every child is seen, supported, and celebrated.

Shelley’s legacy shines through every smile, every act of kindness, and every child who feels valued because of this mission. 💛

On this special day, we honor her memory, her impact, and the ongoing dedication of her dad and the Community Mayors who continue to turn love into meaningful change.

Our Story

Community Mayors for Special Children is the only group that provides days of fun in the sun and excitement creating happy smiles and pleasant dreams in the lives of children with special needs in our City. Your patronage helps us continue to provide these events for the children that need us most in our communities.

Events we sponsor each year are: The Bronx Zoo, Prospect Park and Staten Island Zoos; St. John’s University Athletes & Kids; Deno’s Wonder Wheel; Luna Park and Adventurer’s Family Entertainment Center in Coney Island: the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum: A Halloween Party at Floyd Bennett Field Historic Aircraft Restoration Project; Earth Day planting at the Conference House on Staten Island: the Dominick Della Rocca Summer Camp Scholarship Program
