Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine

Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine Patients demanded a better way, our founder demanded a better way, a better way to treat pelvic pain is why we’re here.

At Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine, we treat whole human beings, not symptoms. In the body, everything is connected; and the pelvic region.

Pelvic pain can take over every part of life, sleep, movement, emotional well-being, and daily function. Hearing stories of patients who finally feel relief is exactly why we do what we do.

Advocating for pelvic pain during a well-woman visit can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve been dismissed before.
But preparation + clear language can shift the entire conversation.

Bringing specific symptoms, asking direct questions, and naming how pain impacts your life helps your provider understand the full picture.
And phrases like “This isn’t normal for me” or “Can we explore pelvic floor or nerve causes?” ensure your concerns aren’t minimized.

Your pain is real.
Your experience matters.
And you deserve a visit where your symptoms are heard, evaluated, and taken seriously.

Endo belly is more than bloating, it’s the result of inflammation, pelvic floor muscle tension, and changes in digestion that happen inside the body during an endometriosis flare.

For many, the abdomen can expand quickly because inflammation increases pressure in the pelvis, slows the gut, and causes the pelvic floor to tighten in response. This combination creates the sudden, painful distention so many patients describe.

If this happens to you, it’s not “in your head,” and it’s not something caused by diet alone. It’s a physiologic response, and an important symptom to pay attention to when discussing your endometriosis care.

We’re proud to share that our Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allyson Shrikhande, was recently featured in MagnateView for her leadership in redefining pelvic pain care, and recognized as one of the physicians “Giving a Voice to Pelvic Pain Patients.”

In the feature, Dr. Shrikhande discusses her ongoing research, the need for non-invasive diagnostic tools for endometriosis, and the importance of evidence-based, compassionate care that validates every patient’s experience.

Her mission, and PRM’s, is clear: to change how pelvic pain is understood, diagnosed, and treated, while ensuring every patient feels seen, heard, and believed.

Redefining pelvic pain care through research, collaboration, and empathy.

Blood clots during your period are common, but when they’re large, frequent, or accompanied by heavy bleeding or pain, they can signal something deeper.

🩸 Small clots (smaller than a quarter) are usually normal, they form when blood pools before leaving the body.
⚠️ Larger or frequent clots, especially with intense cramps or fatigue, may point to conditions like fibroids, endometriosis, or adenomyosis.

If your period feels heavier than it should or impacts your daily life, it’s worth listening to what your body is trying to tell you. Relief starts with understanding the cause. 💛

For so many living with chronic pelvic pain or endometriosis, being believed was the hardest part of the journey.

You are not the years it took for someone to listen.
You are the strength it took to keep showing up, asking questions, and advocating for yourself. 💛

Healing begins the moment your pain is heard, and that moment matters.

At PRM, we see you, we hear you, and we believe you, because your story deserves to be met with understanding, not doubt.

MRIs are powerful tools, but when it comes to pelvic pain, they don’t always show the full picture.

Endometriosis, adhesions, nerve irritation, or pelvic floor dysfunction can all cause pain even when imaging looks “normal.”

That’s why a thorough evaluation with a pelvic pain specialist is key. Your symptoms matter just as much as what a scan can see. 💛

Pelvic pain and period pain share similarities, but understanding their differences is key to identifying the root cause.

🩸 Period pain is typically cyclical, appearing just before or during menstruation. It’s caused by uterine contractions and usually improves with rest or medication.

⚡ Pelvic pain, on the other hand, can occur at any time in the cycle, often lasts six months or longer, and may be linked to conditions like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, or pelvic floor dysfunction.

If your pain extends beyond your period or interferes with daily life, it may be time for a deeper evaluation.

A normal ultrasound or MRI doesn’t always tell the full story. Endometriosis can infiltrate deep into tissue or form on structures where imaging struggles to detect it.

This is one reason endometriosis is frequently underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. The absence of visible disease on a scan doesn’t mean pain isn’t real, it simply means it’s not always visible through imaging alone.

PRM’s approach combines detailed clinical assessment, advanced imaging interpretation, and multidisciplinary care to help patients get the answers and relief they’ve been searching for.

Chronic pelvic pain affects far more than physical comfort, it impacts relationships, mental health, and even professional life.

According to a study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, up to 30% of people with chronic pelvic pain report missing work, and more than 60% experience decreased productivity.

Behind those numbers are people doing their best to push through each day while managing pain that often goes unseen and misunderstood. Many have spent years searching for answers, visiting multiple providers, or being told their pain is “normal.”

At PRM, we see the ripple effects of pelvic pain every day, and we’re here to change that story. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on identifying the root cause of pain and restoring function through comprehensive, minimally invasive treatment.

Because everyone deserves more than temporary relief, they deserve to return to work, to life, and to themselves.

Inflammation is more than just a symptom of endometriosis, it’s one of the key drivers behind the pain, fatigue, and flare-ups so many patients experience.

When endometriosis tissue grows where it shouldn’t, your body reacts with a constant immune response. That ongoing inflammation can make nerves hypersensitive, lead to scar tissue, and even fuel more estrogen production, creating a painful cycle that’s hard to break.

Managing inflammation through treatment, nutrition, and stress support can make a real difference in day-to-day quality of life.
