Mia Khareyn is shining example of youthful ambition and compassion. As the recipient of this year’s prestigious Hero Award, Mia is recognized for her exceptional talent, her intelligence, and her passion for finding a cure for childhood cancer. Her dedication is reflected in her academic excellence, consistently earning honor roll every quarter throughout middle school. Mia's leadership qualities and altruistic spirit are also evident through her active participation in the Peer Leaders Club, where she has significantly contributed to raising awareness and funds for Corey's Promise, a charity dedicated to aiding families fighting childhood cancer. Furthermore, Mia is both a valued member of the Syosset Stingrays swim team and a passionate dancer in a local dance club. Mia is an inspiring figure in our community and we’re proud to present her with this year’s Hero Award!

For over two decades now, Team Dawg has celebrated the everyday hero, the student-athlete that looks beyond themself, and even beyond their team, to look to have an impact on their community as a whole.

In the wake of a Championship season, that represented a 50-year first for Lindenhurst High School Varsity Softball Team, a hero emerged that embodies everything Team Dawg stands for.

Her name is Kaylin MacDonald. She is a gifted athlete, a strong team leader, an excellent student, and most importantly a positive force within both the Lindenhurst and Long Island communities. While any softball fan could wax poetic about her skills in centerfield or her superb hitting mechanics, instead we would like to celebrate and amplify her incredible commitment to mentoring the incoming 9th-grade girls and her willingness to take young players under her wing to help them better understand the intangibles of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Kay, as her team calls her, leads by example and displays the kind of work ethic that only superstars truly possess. That is why we are so pleased to present this 2022 Team Dawg Sportsmanship award to Lindenhurst High School Senior, Kaylin MacDonald.
