“Self-care” feels like it has been commercialized, but for women—especially those in marginalized communities—it was born out of a need for survival.

As we navigate a legislative landscape that feels increasingly heavy, your Sunday reset needs to include a boundary check.

Feminist theory teaches us to look at the power dynamics in our lives:
• Are you carrying the “mental load” for everyone else?
• Is your “care” actually just more labor?
• Are you allowing yourself to feel the anger that comes with these systemic shifts?

Welcome, March. 🌱 As the season shifts, we step into Women’s History Month—a time to celebrate the strength, complexity, and mental health of women everywhere.

From an existential perspective, growth often requires us to sit with the “winters” of our lives before we can bloom.

To the future clinicians I train and the clients I support: your story is a vital part of history.

This month, let’s prioritize:
• Cultural Humility: Honoring our unique backgrounds.
• Empowerment: Reclaiming our narratives.
• Boundaries: Protecting our peace as we advocate for others.

Women’s History Month must include the women whose rights are being targeted first: women of color, trans women, and those in rural communities.

The current push to regulate our bodies and erase our identities is a direct assault on the mental health of our most vulnerable.

Take a stand:

✨Check-in: If you’re feeling the weight of these legislative changes, reach out to a community that affirms you.

✨Disconnect: It’s okay to turn off the news to preserve your capacity to fight another day.

✨Connect: If you’re a clinician, how are you integrating these systemic realities into your treatment planning?

Happy March. Let’s do the work. 🕊️

Reflecting on the final day of ... 💭

In my practice, I often talk about the intersection of our personal stories and the larger systems we move through.

Honoring Black history means honoring the Black psyche. It means creating space for the full spectrum of the Black experience—the grief, the excellence, the exhaustion, and the hope.

To my fellow clinicians and healers: Our cultural humility doesn’t end today.

To my clients: Your well-being is a legacy in the making.

We don’t just carry the weight of the past; we carry the power to redefine our future.

Let’s continue to choose healing, choose boundary-setting, and choose ourselves. 🤎

They can villainize the culture, but they’ll never catch the vibe. Celebrating the independence of our land and the freedom to be exactly who we are, regardless of the headlines.

Hola!

Who do you call when the ground starts to shift?

In moments of emotional, financial, or systemic chaos, our instinct is often to retreat or ‘white-knuckle’ our way through. Reflect on a time you chose to reach out to a mentor, elder, or trusted peer instead.

🍀The Resistance: What was the internal narrative trying to keep you silent? (e.g., ‘I should have this figured out’ or ‘I don’t want to be a burden’)

🍀The Release: How did the act of naming your chaos to another person change its power over you?

🍀The Grounding: What is one piece of ‘ancestral’ or professional wisdom they offered that helps you feel more anchored today?

Even the most ‘integrative’ therapists need an external perspective to help reintegrate when life gets loud. Vulnerability isn’t a lapse in professionalism; it’s a requirement for sustainable advocacy

As a clinician dedicated to social justice, I see so much of this spirit in the marginalized and immigrant populations I serve.

It takes immense “horsepower” to navigate systemic challenges and reclaim one’s narrative. This year, I’m leaning into these themes:

✨ Independence: Honoring the autonomy and agency of every client.

✨ Momentum: Strategically using CBT and solution-focused tools to facilitate tangible change.

✨ Community: Remembering that even the swiftest horse thrives within its herd.

As we welcome this lunar cycle, may you find the stamina to pursue your personal growth and the “wild” spirit to challenge the status quo.

Wishing you a year of freedom, strength, and rapid progress! 🧧✨

“What if it all goes wrong?”

“Okay, but what if it all goes right?”

Anxiety is a creative force—it just happens to use its imagination to build monsters. Using a CBT lens, we can look at those thoughts as hypotheses, not facts.

If you’re going to spend time in the “What If,” make sure you visit the best-case scenario too. You might find more evidence for that outcome than you realized.

The flowers are in the vase, the chocolate is 50% off, and the social pressure is officially off. 🕯️☕️

After a weekend of celebrating love, I’m spending today practicing the most important ‘Modality’ I know: Unconditional Positive Regard for Myself.

No notes. No ‘Should-Haves.’ Just Sunday. Who’s with me? 🙋🏽‍♀️”

Happy Valentine’s Day ♥️
