For Tracy Ongena, caregiving is personal.

When her grandmother became ill, Tracy helped her family cover the gaps left by Medicare. What shocked her most wasn’t just the system’s shortcomings in providing care for her grandmother, but also how caregivers were treated.

That experience lit a fire that has driven her ever since. In 2011, Tracy founded Alvita Care with a simple but powerful north star: we have to do better. Today, her work continues to honor both patients and caregivers, ensuring they receive the respect and support they deserve.

But here’s the reality: 90% of older adults want to age at home, yet nearly half of direct care workers struggle on public assistance to make ends meet. In 2022, home care turnover hit 77%, leaving painful gaps in the support so many families rely on.
