Language matters.
When we label food as “clean,” we imply that other foods are “dirty.” That framing shifts nutrition from physiology to morality and that’s where problems begin.
In my clinical experince (and the research suopports this) I’ve found that rigid food rules and moralized eating patterns are associated with higher rates of anxiety, guilt, and disordered eating behaviors.
Health is not about purity.
It’s about adequacy, flexibility, and patterns that support both physical and mental wellbeing.
At Maya Feller Nutrition, we focus on sustainable, culturally inclusive, evidence-based nutrition without shame.
If you’re ready to move away from food rules and toward support, work with a Maya Feller Nutrition Registered Dietitian .
