FEMM (Fertility Education + Medical Management) is a knowledge- and science-based reproductive health program for women, which teaches them to identify, track, and comprehend changes in their body that are relevant to their health and fertility. Women are guided to notice important, specific biological signs—i.e., menstruation and ovulation—and understand both why these signs occur and what they mean for their general and sexual health. Women can use these personal observations to more fully understand their body, knowledgeably partner with medical professionals in identifying health problems and solutions, address any irregularities and underlying problems, and make decisions about the timing of their pregnancies. FEMM has its headquarters in New York, with health centers available in Columbus, OH; New York, NY; and Eunice and Lafayette, LA. See more info here: https://femmhealth.org/health-centers. For more info about the FEMM Education page, see this: https://femmhealth.org/education/learn-femm. A FEMM iPhone is available.

If your luteal phase makes you feel a bit like you’re in a horror flick: on edge, irritable, ANGRY… or is it HANGRY?! 😩

You need to book a FEMM appointment.

Drops in estrogen during the luteal phase do cause symptoms like mood swings, irritability, fatigue and food cravings. BUT just because these (and other!) symptoms are “common” doesn’t mean it’s a sign of health. Nor does it have to be that way!

So, you could rage journal about your symptoms OR you could book a telehealth appointment today:

P.S. As you can see, we didn’t even score any real points for LUTEAL… the word FEMM is worth way more!

Emily struggled with her weight for years, starting from the time she hit puberty. She kept hearing the same thing from family and friends: Eat better. But even though Emily tried diet after diet, she only continued putting on weight. ⚖️

A doctor diagnosed Emily with PCOS and suggested she go on birth control to regulate her symptoms. Emily didn’t want to do that. She wanted a treatment that would actually get to the bottom of her problems. To make matters worse, she began suffering from excruciating, chronic lower back pain. But no medical provider could offer her a solution, and Emily kept being prescribed medications that only masked her symptoms. 💊

Eventually, Emily connected with FEMM medical provider Dr. Danielle Koestner, who focused on discovering and addressing the root causes of Emily’s PCOS.

After years of misunderstandings and dead ends, Emily finally felt heard and began seeing real improvements in her health. Her back pain disappeared, and so far, she has lost fifty pounds.

It’s a comfort and encouragement to Emily to know that “FEMM providers are not looking to cover up the symptoms, they’re looking to get to the root cause and fix the problem and not just slap a band-aid on us and tell women to get over it and move on.” 💜

FEMM’s approach is redefining women’s healthcare. Through our recent Medical Management Masterclass, doctors like Dr. Opiyo Eddie Jr., pictured here, learned how to manage complex reproductive endocrinology cases using FEMM/RHRI protocols. 🎓

The Masterclass focuses on what Dr. Pilar Vigil explains is an under-researched area of reproductive health today: hormones and the brain—“this needs to be happening in every area of medicine.”

One attendee revealed to us that, “[w]hen I found FEMM, I didn’t know all of this reproductive health knowledge and its answers were real!"

Together, we’re helping women find real answers, not band-aid solutions—and connecting medical professionals to a growing global network for change.
