Irish Day of Action - Rockaway To help the residents of Rockaway recover from Hurricane Sandy the Irish community is organizing a Day of Action on Saturday November 24th

To help the residents of Rockaway recover from the dreadful effects of Hurricane Sandy the Irish community is organizing a Day of Action on Saturday November 24th. All able bodied men and women are asked to come together and travel to Rockaway to help the stricken neighborhood. All details to follow.

Please come join us this Sunday June 2nd 2013 for 'Gathering Cois Rockaways' bringing the Irish Community together at the Rockaway Irish Festival.
Anyone interested in volunteering please register below, transport from your local Irish Community Centers will be provided on the day. Help is still very much needed so please if you can volunteer in helping the Rockaways back to its best!

Join us this Sunday, June 2, 2103 'Gathering Cois Rockaways' is bringing the Irish Community together at the Rockaway Irish Festival. We invite you to join other members and friends of the Irish community at the Rockaway Irish festival. To recognize the contribution of the volunteers who came out to help the Rockaways community last year, we will provide admission tickets to the Festival to the first 500 people who register.
You can also volunteer in the ongoing recovery effort for a few hours or else come along with the family and friends for a day of Irish Culture and friendship. Transport provided by Irish Centers of New York.

The Irish community is making clear that it will not forget the brethren in Breezy Point and the Rockaways, even if others have moved on after Hurricane Sandy.

Buses will depart from the following locations at 7:00am:

1 - Aisling Irish Community Center, 990 McLean Avenue, Yonkers,

2 - Emerald Isle Immigration Center, 4275 Katonah Ave, Bronx, NY

3 - Emerald Isle Immigration Center, 59-26 Woodside Ave, Queens, NY

4 - Midtown - Park Ave 41st/42nd Street - Grand Central Airport Bus location

5 - New York Irish Center, 10-40 Jackson Ave, LIC, NY

6 - Rockland County, AOH Hall, Railroad Avenue, Pearl River

7 - Westchester County, Hudson Valley Irish Center, Sixth Street, Verplanck



If you prefer your own transportation, you can pick from (4) designated locations to volunteer your services:



1 - Rockaways - St. Gertrudes - 336 Beach 38th Street

World Cares Organization (add'l registration required on site @ 9am)

2 - Rockaways, Breezy Point

Habitat for Humanity (additional registration required on-site)

3 - Rockaways Rehab Project, 183 Beach 96th Street

(additional registration on site after 10am)

4 - Long Island, Island Park, Railway Station Parking Lot

(Volunteers are also gathering at the Irish Center Mineola - 297 Willis Ave.

@ 8am to go to Island Park
