BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers is an FQHC Health Center Across our 7 (existing and new) clinical sites we have a total of 52,000 sq. ft.

and 77 exam rooms devoted to clinical services, which include: Adult Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease (including HIV/AIDS medical, Prevention, case management, and testing services), Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Dentistry, Psychology, Psychiatry, Nephrology, Optometry, Podiatry, Pulmonology, Physical Therapy, Cardiology and Gastroenterology, Urgent Care Services, and a wide array of preventive, health education and enabling services such as Adolescent Health, Geriatric Support, Smoking Cessation, and Nutritional Support/Weight Management. We have implemented a number of pioneering and innovative initiatives over the years to improve service delivery and engage high-risk individuals, including Electronic Health Records, Drop-In Group Medical Appointments; the Brownsville Community Farmers’ Market (the only health center-operated farmers’ market in Brooklyn); and the World Academy for Total Community Health (WATCH), a health-themed high school.

Last week, our leadership team stepped away from the day-to-day to focus on what matters most, YOU! We came together to do the kind of internal work that doesn't make headlines but makes everything else possible: how we communicate, how we collaborate, and how we hold ourselves accountable to the people we serve. That kind of work takes intention. It takes investment. And it takes a team willing to do it together. We're grateful for the community that trusts us with their care. That trust drives everything we do, including the work you don't always see.

Love is a doctor on her way home who stops when she sees someone in need. This week, our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Camille Taylor-Mullings noticed an unconscious man outside our facility. She ran back inside, called a Code Blue, and our clinical team responded within moments, saving a life. That's what love looks like at BMS. Not just on Valentine's Day, every single day. Black History Month is about systems, not just stories. The health disparities facing Brownsville and East New York today are the result of decades of decisions that shaped who had access to care and who didn’t. Community health centers like ours were created in response to that history. They are not symbolic. They are structural.

Protecting community-led care is part of honoring Black history in real time. Health equity isn’t abstract. It is built, defended, and sustained by this community, by our community.
