Your hair is known as the "external bloom of the Blood" and is a direct reflection of our internal health, particularly the state of our Kidney Jing and Liver Blood. Healthy, vibrant hair signifies abundant Kidney energy and well-nourished Blood, while thinning, dry, or slow-growing hair points to an internal imbalance 👩🏻‍🦰💆🏻‍♀️

Here are TCM-certified haircare tips!
1. The Kidneys control growth, development, and aging, directly influencing hair health and the onset of graying. TCM suggests consuming bone broth, fresh seaweeds, and walnuts to support your kidneys.

2. The Liver is what stores Blood, and when Blood is deficient, hair lacks nourishment. TCM recommends eating organic red meat, black sesame seeds, and goji berries.

3. Massaging your scalp stimulates blood flow, which nourishes hair follicles and calms the Shen, thereby reducing stress. A wooden comb is a natural material and doesn't create much static electricity which can damage hair. Gently brushing distributes natural oils and stimulates the acupuncture meridians on the scalp!

4. In TCM, "Wind" is a pathogenic factor that can dry out the scalp and hair. It's recommended to wear a hat or scarf in windy, dry, or cold weather.

Meet Yao Tong Xue, which literally translates to "Lumbar Pain Point." This powerful acupressure point is your go-to for quick, at-home relief from those nagging aches in your lower back.

A Quick Note: Acupressure is fantastic for providing temporary relief and is a great tool to have in your self-care kit. If you're looking for deeper, longer-lasting results and to address the root cause of your back pain, it's time to level up to Acupuncture!

Acupuncture treatments provide a more powerful and comprehensive approach by using hair-thin needles to:

You did it. You conquered the NYC Marathon! 🏆

But what happens when the cheers fade, the medal is hung up, and a surprising wave of emptiness, fatigue, or sadness hits? You might be experiencing "Post-Marathon Blues."

This is a REAL and very common phenomenon. After the massive physical exertion and emotional high of race day, your neurochemistry (hello, endorphin drop!) and energy reserves can crash.

How Acupuncture Can Be Your Recovery Ally:
We see many marathoners navigating this transition. Acupuncture is a powerful tool to:
* Re-balance Your Qi: Restore your body's vital energy, which is massively depleted after 26.2 miles.
* Regulate: Help naturally rebalance endorphins and serotonin to lift your mood and improve sleep.
* Calm the Nervous System: Shift your body from a prolonged "fight or flight" state (training & racing) into "rest and digest" mode for true recovery

Your marathon journey doesn't end at the finish line; it transitions. Honoring your body and mind now is just as important as your training was. Ready to feel like yourself again? Book a recovery session with us by visiting nycacuwell.com

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, achy, stiff joints are a sign of "stuck" energy and blood. It’s your body’s way of asking for better flow and nourishment! Here are 3 TCM tips to help you move with ease again:

1️⃣ The masters of tendons & bones are your liver and kidneys. Warm, cooked foods like bone broth can dispel dampness while beans and walnuts nourish the Kidneys and Liver.

2️⃣ Combat stagnation with gentle exercises like Tai Chi or Qi Gong. These practices circulate your Qi (energy) to lubricate joints without strain.

3️⃣ This is our powerful tool! Acupuncture unblocks stuck energy, reduces inflammation, and addresses the root cause of your pain for lasting relief. Not just a temporary mask!

Both TCM and modern science agree that a gentle walk after a meal is a simple yet powerful habit! 🍱🚶🏻‍♀️

Here's a practical recommendation for your post-meal walks:
Timing: Wait about 10-15 minutes after finishing your meal.
Duration: Aim for a 10 to 15-minute stroll.
Intensity: You should be able to hold a conversation comfortably. This is not a power walk.
Mindfulness: Use this time to relax. Avoid stressful topics to calm the mind, as it aids digestion.

Walking after meals harmonizes the body's energy, supports metabolic health, and aligns with the fundamental TCM principle of nurturing the digestive system for overall well-being.

Skipping breakfast or grabbing something cold? That's like pouring water on your digestive fire. It can lead to fatigue, bloating, and brain fog later.

For the TCM Ideal Breakfast Rule: Eat warm, cooked, and nourishing!

Here are some examples:
🥣 Warm oatmeal with cinnamon & stewed apples
🥣 Congee (rice porridge) with ginger & soft egg
🥣 Scrambled eggs with lightly cooked spinach
🥣 Ginger tea
🥣 Sweet potatoes or squash

Honor our body's natural rhythm so you can feel the difference in your energy, focus, and digestion.

Collard greens are cooling and slightly bitter, making them excellent for clearing heat and supporting the Liver and Stomach. Their downward-moving energy helps regulate digestion, while their mineral-rich content nourishes Blood and Yin.

• High in Vitamin K & Calcium that strengthen Bones
• Rich in Chlorophyll & Iron that build Healthy Blood
• Fiber & Magnesium support smooth digestion and bowel function
• Antioxidants (Vit A/C) provide immunity to the body

🧑‍🍳 How to Enjoy Them TCM-Style: Lightly sauté or steam collard greens with garlic, ginger, or a splash of vinegar. Add them to soups, stir-fries, or even as a wrap substitute!

10/20/2025

Menopause is a natural life stage. Menopausal symptoms arise when there is a deficiency of Kidney Yin. When Yin is deficient, it can no longer control Yang. This results in a relative excess of Yang, which rises upward as Empty Heat or Deficiency Fire. This explains the classic symptoms:
* Hot flashes, night sweats: Rising Empty Heat.
* Dryness: Lack of Yin's moistening function.
* Insomnia, heart palpitations: Yin deficiency failing to anchor the Shen.
* Anxiety, poor memory: Kidney Jing decline affecting the Brain.

By nourishing Yin, managing stress, and seeking professional guidance, you can support your body's wisdom and transition with greater ease, grace, and vitality.
