Your hair is known as the "external bloom of the Blood" and is a direct reflection of our internal health, particularly the state of our Kidney Jing and Liver Blood. Healthy, vibrant hair signifies abundant Kidney energy and well-nourished Blood, while thinning, dry, or slow-growing hair points to an internal imbalance 👩🏻🦰💆🏻♀️
Here are TCM-certified haircare tips!
1. The Kidneys control growth, development, and aging, directly influencing hair health and the onset of graying. TCM suggests consuming bone broth, fresh seaweeds, and walnuts to support your kidneys.
2. The Liver is what stores Blood, and when Blood is deficient, hair lacks nourishment. TCM recommends eating organic red meat, black sesame seeds, and goji berries.
3. Massaging your scalp stimulates blood flow, which nourishes hair follicles and calms the Shen, thereby reducing stress. A wooden comb is a natural material and doesn't create much static electricity which can damage hair. Gently brushing distributes natural oils and stimulates the acupuncture meridians on the scalp!
4. In TCM, "Wind" is a pathogenic factor that can dry out the scalp and hair. It's recommended to wear a hat or scarf in windy, dry, or cold weather.
