You might think that this weirddddd but once you start tongue scraping, you can never go back.

Us and our guys have been doing it for 3+ years at this point!

What is tongue scraping?
👅 An Ayurvedic tradition where you clean your tongue every morning as part of your daily oral hygiene routine (along with regular brushing and flossing of the teeth)

Why do we tongue scrape?
👅 If you think about it, your tongue has a ton of food particles that linger around. You might see it as a thick white coating on your tongue!

This coating can also cause bad breath, toxicity and just overall poor oral hygiene. We're not kidding when we say it's so therapeutic and cleansing to see the bacteria build up get scraped off our tongues first thing in the morning!

This prevents reabsorption of the toxins that your body worked tirelessly to get rid of!

➡️ It promotes overall oral and digestive health

HOW TO TONGUE SCRAPE:

👅 Buy a tongue scraper (you can get them off Amazon, I'll share my favorite copper one in the stories) *You can buy a tongue scraper that is made of gold, silver, metal, copper, tin or brass. To reduce your exposure to BPAs, avoid buying plastic tongue scrapers.

👅The tongue should be GENTLY scraped from back to front for 7 to 14 strokes. Do not scrape too hard!

👅 Clean the tongue scraper thoroughly after each use.

👅Overtime, we like to boil our tongue scrapers to thoroughly disinfect it.

The marketing for clean beauty 💄 is getting GOOD. Maybe a little too good. And not in a good way....

Here's the problem ➡️ There are companies out there who are getting trickkkkky & they want you to think they are being environmentally responsible and safe by using keywords like CLEAN, NATURAL, VEGAN, ORGANIC & CRUELTY-FREE.... even when they're not.

This is called GREENWASHING‼️

We want to help you avoid getting tricked into investing in products that are not actually what they're claiming to be!

5 GREENWASHING BUZZWORDS [read to the bottom]

WHAT THEY MEAN:⬇️

GREEN BEAUTY
Products made using only plant-based ingredients that meet specific eco-friendly and sustainability standards.

VEGAN
No ingredients in the product contain animal by-products.

ORGANIC
Ingredients in the product were not treated using pesticides, herbicides, or growth hormones.

CRUELTY-FREE
A product is cruelty-free when its testing was not completed on animals.

NATURAL
Natural ingredients can be found in nature. Remember, a product that is “natural” still might not be a product that you want to be using on your body (like lead)

WHAT THEY *DON’T* NECESSARILY MEAN:⬇️
The product contains safe enough ingredients for your skin. For example, vegan cosmetics can contain several artificial components that are also found in conventional cosmetic products.

The only difference is that vegan cosmetics do not contain substances of animal origin...encouraging people to think it’s safer/healthier because of the buzzword vegan!

Or if a product says "NATURAL" on it, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t contain natural elements that are bad for you like LEAD or ALUMINUM!

THE SAD TRUTH🙁
There is little-to-no regulation when it comes to ingredients used in cosmetics and personal care products. This should PUT YOU ON GUARD!!!!!

*Personal care products DO NOT have to register with the FDA, provide ingredient statements, adopt “Good Manufacturing” practices, or report any events or situations to the FDA. They don’t even have to provide safety records to them.*

Cycle syncing wasn't always easy for us....

When we first learned about the power of strategically planning your life around your cycle in 2017, our minds were BLOWN. 🤯

We felt like it myth busted every single thing we’ve ever known about our female bodies and psyche.

Cue the excitement, but also sense of overwhelm - The complex science, graphs of our hormone fluctuations, specifics on each phase, what to do, when/how to do it, wondering how to customize it to our own Individual cycles.

It took YEARS make cycle syncing a lifestyle. We failed a lot in the beginning …we’d do it one week, then skip the next, try it out for a month, fall off track the following months, etc.
.But we'd ALWAYS come back after reminding ourselves how good we felt doing it.

My wisdom tooth broke through the skin last week + caused a big infection in my mouth. 🦷 Turns out, I have to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed but in the mean time I need to take care of this bacterial infection.

My dentist prescribed me an ANTIBIOTIC for the infection & pain meds/NSAIDS to ease the terrible pain 💊 IYKYK we prefer alternative/natural remedies first and foremost, and we try to avoid taking antibiotics or NSAIDS unless they're absolutely necessary.

Right now, it’s safe to say I need the meds! **shout out to modern medicine for taking care of my infection and easing my pain, love ya**

But why was I hesitant to take the antibiotics in the first place?

Antibiotics is derived from the greek words:
➡️ ANTI (fighting, opposing, killing)
➡️ BIOS (life)
= ANTIBIOTIC literally means life-killing (in terms of all bacteria)

Antibiotics treat infection + kill the bad bacteria. LIFE-SAVING! But they also kill the beneficial bacteria that we need to stay healthy, too.

*There are studies that show that even ONE ROUND OF ANTIBIOTICS can permanently alter your gut flora (and we all know how important your gut is for your overall health).

This is why it's absolutely imperative to take care of your gut + help repopulate that good bacteria through your diet BEFORE, DURING & LONG AFTER taking the medication.

Us: Here’s 12 fun facts about ya hormone hype girls...

🤍 Our dad took so many pictures of us growing up as kids and we are so happy that he did. We cherish those photos (swipe for some 🤣)

🤍 We have (and always had) VERY LARGE appetites and often when asked, we say “Yeah, I can eat”

🤍 Bring us a batch of scones, and we'll work for free.

🤍 We have strong GLUTES aka “Beyar Butts” (prob from all those years of playing soccer)

🤍 Our mom and dad were NYC firefighters

🤍 We copy each other’s style, owning just about the same things just in different colors.

🤍 When 2 of us are hanging out, 1 of us gets mad 🤣 (sister FOMO)

🤍 All three of us and our significant others wear and we're always trying to top each others scores.

🤍 We picked up a love for pickle ball recently. It's definitely going to be our Spring & Summer hobby.

🤍 We’re the people who choose “bulk order” options to avoid shipping fees

🤍 We’re empaths, whether it’s a for a client or a bird that got hit on the side of the road. We care too HARD (that poor bird’s family and neighbors)

HOT REMINDER ALERT: Women & men experience different hormonal fluctuations & it's time we start actinnnnn' like it.

YES - Women & men both have a 24-hour circadian rhythm ⏰

Men’s hormones follow the same pattern every single DAY. Their testosterone production is synced up to a 24-hour circadian cycle. It peaks in the AM with cortisol and gradually decreases throughout the day.

BUT (a big nice butt)

Women have a second biological rhythm called — the infradian rhythm — that follows a 28-day pattern on average with lotssss of hormone fluctuations (this includes your 4 beautiful phases menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, luteal).

*This infradian rhythm governs a lot of important things...like your brain, metabolism, immune system, microbiome, adrenals, reproduction.*

WHICH MEANS THROUGHOUT 1 MONTH...

❣️Women experience 25% change in brain chemistry. In fact, women’s brains need 20 more mins of sleep each night!!!!

❣️Women's metabolism speeds up and slows down predictably across the month (this is why we should eat and exercise differently each phase of our cycle)!

-AND-

❣️Women’s cortisol levels are higher in one part of the infradian cycle ....which is why pushing yourself too hard actually elevates your cortisol levels even further causing an increase in inflammation.

❣️ Women fluctuate throughout the month while men relatively stay consistent.

THIS IS WHY 'ONE SIZE FITS ALL’ APPROACHES DO NOT WORK FOR US LADIES!

If you have female biochemistry, you have shifting hormones - and they be shiftinggggg all month long in the most powerful way.
