💁 Here are some of my tips that can help you tackle your acne battle:

1. Go for high fiber foods.

2. Do not forget about those antioxidants! Make your plate fun and colorful with veggies.

3. Never say no to good quality proteins because getting higher quality food is always a good thing! Our bodies need protein to detox well.

4. Get to the root cause. This is the most important part! Know what's off balance so you can fix it and move forward!

5. Finally, having a journal where you note things such as what you ate and how you felt that day can be helpful. It will allow you to figure out what can trigger your acne.

💡 Did you know stress can impact your acne?

Even after fully healing your acne, that does not mean you will be acne-free forever. What I mean by this is that, in stressful times, you might see one or two wild spots which can appear.

So, here are some of my tips on how to make sure you destress as much as possible. 🤗

If you find and correct the root causes of your acne, avengers-level threats like this one are way less likely to surprise you! 🌱 Follow me for more tips about that.

The reason we work on the gut BEFORE working on the hormones is that these two systems actually chit-chat with each other. Think you and your work bestie in the breakroom at lunch- these two reallly vibe off each other... 👀

And when one gets a little knocked off-kilter, it has the ability to knock the other off-kilter too after a while. So, for example, if you are exposed to a pathogen or chronic stress or even just don't keep a great diet- all of that, after a while, can mess with your hormones too (and skin!). Don't even get me started on the toxins in our environment (I'll go on forever). 👍

So in order to rebalance the body, we start in the gut, because having a balanced and strong immune system in place via the gut can help stabilize your hormones and make it muuuuch easier to rebalance them!

🔎 Make sure you follow me and stick around for an exciting new program that allows you to do exactly this!

Some people think that because they got their hormones checked at their doctor's office and all came back normal that they don't have hormonal acne.
Sorry doll, but unfortunately that's not the case.

I have this conversation a lot in my practice, because it causes a ton of confusion for clients, but it's important.

🚨 Your doctor's tests are NOT enough to rule out root causes of acne. That's not what they are designed for 🚨

These tests are designed to detect and diagnose diseases and conditions- but aren't structured to be interpreted for imbalances. Just like the tests I use aren't designed to be interpreted for diseases (that's why I don't diagnose- I'm not a doctor!).

➡️ What's the difference you ask? Imbalances → Dis-ease → DISEASE.

Acne tends to fall into the category of "dis-ease" and is an early sign of imbalance.
So, when your doctor tests your hormones for acne and they come back "normal"- that's great news, it's telling you you don't have anything majorly wrong or malfunctioning in your body.

💡 What those tests don't tell you is that you may not be detoxing well from your hormones, or your body might be making a stronger version of hormones (like testosterone, for instance)... THESE are some of the things we need to be looking at for acne, since they come BEFORE things really get out of whack.

❓ These are the 3 basic questions I think every acne-prone person should be wondering about when trying to nail down the root causes of their acne.

Over the 10+ years, I've been doing this, I've been able to identify a ton of patterns as far as what tends to cause acne in certain spots and with certain appearances (i.e. cystic vs closed comedones).

These patterns aren't set in stone and certainly aren't science-based, just anecdotal, but I use this tool to help steer prospective clients in the right direction.

💡 If you wanna know more about the potential root causes of your acne could try out the free quiz in my bio! You'll answer these questions & a few others to get a personalized breakdown of what might be contributing to your acne.

And, yet, they still get around contradicting you that you must be washing your face wrong or something like that, ugh! The audacity! 😑

But no, acne is a response to your body’s inside struggles. If something is going on inside, your skin will show it to you. 🔎

The most obvious example to support this point is when you eat something you are allergic to. If you do that and have mild symptoms, one of the aftermath is your skin is full of small red dots.

So, why are we still treating acne as a mere reason for not properly taking care of our face? Still a mystery to me haha! 😅

Haven’t you heard? 👀 I am transitioning my Clear Skin Program to a term-based program, the Acne Healing Institute. Why am I doing this? Well, there are a few reasons:

💃 A group setting gives such an amazing sense of community and support- something us acne-prone people are severely lacking much of the time

🔎 I can offer more value and bonuses in this setting - like guest classes from other professionals (aestheticians, healers, etc)- so you have well-rounded support and are set up for success

💡 To offer the option of specialized testing in a more affordable way, I've split the program into 2 terms: gut healing & hormone balancing (although I HIGHLY recommend enrolling in BOTH terms for the best results, it was important to me to increase access to testing)

I'm giving this structure a try and asking this first group of people to give it a try along with me! It's a beta launch, which means those who are selected to join for this round will be helping me shape the program for future cohorts.

If this sounds like something you would like to be part of, make sure you stick around. I will be opening up an early registration soon where you can get access to all these goodies I've been working on!

Unsolicited opinion check… 🙃

If I had a penny for every single time I had to deal with this when I used to have acne! If you relate to it, comment down below this emoji 🤑 and let’s find out together how many of us have or had to deal with this.

Now what? Well, here is how we take the information your body is giving us in the Acne Healing Institute (my new program) and use it to actually get to the root cause of YOUR acne specifically:

✅Testing: In this program, I use specialized testing to help us pinpoint exactly what’s off in your body. We then use diet, supplement & lifestyle to correct whatever find is off in the testing.

✅What worked/didn’t work for you in the past: As upsetting as it is to learn that the new thing you’ve been trying to heal acne isn’t working for you, I always count it as a blessing. It’s disappointing for SURE, but one thing we can get from it is just more information about what your body does and doesn’t need. For example:

If spironolactone didn’t work for you - we know your problem probably isn’t a testosterone problem.

If hormonal birth control didn’t work for you - it’s probably because hormones aren’t one of your root causes.

✅ What your acne looks like and other symptoms: What your acne looks like can tell us a lot about the root causes. For example:

If your acne is large, cystic, really red, and painful - it’s most definitely an internal cause not external.

If your acne is mostly under the skin, closed comedones - it’s likely a mix of both internal & external problems, same if you have mixed acne.

If you have gut problems - that’s a sure-fire sign that your gut is messing with your skin.
