Monica Lopez has been a professional architect for over 30 years. Her extensive portfolio includes publicly-funded housing, schools, residential and commercial renovations, and private apartment developments. She is a LEED-certified accredited professional (LEED AP), a registered architect in New York State, and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Her firm is a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). Prior to establishing her own firm in 2012, Monica worked for 12 years as a project manager and associate under the direction of the award-winning architect Warren Gran—a Fellow of the AIA with over 40 years of experience, who served on the New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee and was known for his impeccable business approach and talented design. Warren Gran was Monica’s mentor and advisor, and a major influence on her practice and professional ethics. People often refer to Monica as the “keeper” of his spirit and his approach to public work. Monica began her career as an architectural project manager in her native Colombia, where she was responsible for all design phases—conception through completion—for projects including an industrial park, a health center, high-rise multi-family residences, and single family homes. She has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, where she graduated with honors and received the Best Students Faculty of Architecture award.

We celebrate the completion of a new Affordable and Supportive Housing building Throop Residence, on the grounds of Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn for Comunilife!
The $41 million investment with 93 units will provide housing services to chronically unhoused individuals.

Monica Lopez Uran, AIA, LEED AP designed the 8-story building with consultants EMTG CONSULTING ENGINEERS, CityScape Engineering, PLLC, Michael Wein, P.E Civil Engineering and Arnold Associates Landscape Architecture. IMC Architecture provided Revit modeling and CORE Consultants NYC expediting services. Lettire Construction Corp. was the General Contractor and Alex Afxentiou provided Owner’s Representative services.

We celebrate the completion of our 30-unit Supportive and Senior Housing project in Corona, NY for Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities, Inc. The development will provide housing services to chronically unhoused individuals with mental health issues and older adults.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINANCE

NYC Hospital System to Double Down on Affordable Housing
The Housing for Health initiative aims to build housing on hospital property as well as navigation services, medical respite beds, and social services.

Comunilife is developing 93 affordable and supportive housing units on the campus of NYC Health + Hospitals’ Woodhull campus in Brooklyn. This second phase is being built next to an 89-unit first phase that opened in 2019.
