Lights, camera, action in The Zone! šŸŽ¬āœØ

This week, we welcomed actor Luis GuzmƔn for an unforgettable visit with our Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy team in The Zone.

The afternoon was full of excitement! Luis co-hosted a live show on Kid Zone TV (KZTV) sharing stories from his favorite projects and offering advice to our inpatient audience. One patient even made a beautiful bracelet for Luis while watching from their room, which our team delivered to him during the show.

Luis toured The Zone with our friend DJ, where he learned about our therapeutic and educational programming, and faced off in an air hockey match—DJ took the win! He also stopped by the holiday shop and met one of our staff celebrities, facility dog Muffin.

Thank you, Luis, for bringing joy, inspiration, and plenty of smiles to our patients and staff. It was truly a day to remember! šŸ˜Šāļø

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past weekend at the 2025 Mount Sinai Child Mount Sinai Children’s Center Foundation (CCF) Benefit at the Big Apple Circus! It was incredible to see our vibrant community of families, patients, staff, and supporters come together for an evening of spectacular performances, laughs, and family fun. This year’s event celebrated our honorees, the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department and Paws & Play Program, and the Pediatric Inpatient Care Team.

Thanks to your generosity, this year’s benefit raised more than $1.2 million which supports funding essential hospital renovations, strengthening therapeutic programs that ease stress during hospital stays, and driving innovative research that shapes the future of pediatric medicine. Your support helps us to build a brighter, healthier future for children everywhere.

Thank you to our Mount Sinai CCF Advisory Board members, CCF Benefit Co-Chairs, individual and corporate sponsors, volunteers, and of course, , for helping to organize a truly incredible event.

We can’t wait to see you all again next year! āļø

Last weekend, our Pediatric Endocrinology faculty and staff spent the gorgeous autumn afternoon proudly representing the Mount Sinai Health System at the Breakthrough T1D Walk – the world’s largest event dedicated to the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community.

T1D is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone essential for regulating blood sugar. While there is currently no cure, events like this help accelerate progress through research, advocacy, and community support. Thanks to the collective efforts of participants and supporters, the event raised over $300,000 to advance these critical initiatives.

We are proud of our team for championing patient health both within and beyond our hospital walls and embodying our commitment to empathy, equity, and compassionate care for all šŸ‘

The Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital proudly participated in the 2025 Babies With Books Read-a-thon! This year, more than 40 families joined us in completing an incredible 355 reading sessions. Our top reader read to her baby over 100 times in just two weeks — an amazing achievement! šŸŽ‰

Babies With Books is a global initiative that encourages early literacy, promotes family bonding, and supports healthy infant development through the joy of reading. Our NICU team supports this mission by providing families and staff with education about the program, highlighting the benefits of reading to babies, and offering free books from our book cart. Every story shared is another step up on our ā€œbook-o-meterā€ šŸ“–āœØ

This was our second year participating — and we’re already looking forward to seeing this program continue to grow in the future!

On Tuesday, January 28th, the Labor and Delivery department was gifted a Caring Cradle from the organization, Griffin Cares. The Caring Cradle offers grieving families the opportunity to spend precious time with their babies after a perinatal loss.

The Labor and Delivery department held a dedication ceremony on-site, in which the cradle was dedicated to the memory of Griffin, the son of the organization’s founders, who tragically passed away at just 13 days old in July 1996.

This meaningful donation continues to build upon the department’s robust bereavement care that offers support to patients and families with compassion and dignity.
