1 in 3 college roommates experience conflict, according to a survey by George Washington University.

No two people share the same habits, schedules, or perspectives, and learning to navigate those differences is a skill. Which is why Amie DiTomasso, LICSW, MPH, and Ladonna Matchett, MA, R-DMT, from The Dorm D.C. headed to NYU to share practical tools for navigating roommate tension and having honest, productive conversations.

Working through hard moments leads to feeling more understood, more confident, and more capable of advocating for yourself. 💜

In honor of Persian New Year, Delaram Saidi, President of The Dorm, shared a message in her own words – a reflection on resilience, connection, and what this time of year means to her:

For over 3,000 years, the Iranian people have celebrated Nowruz – our new year.

Nowruz – which means “new day” – marks many things, including the arrival of Spring. It begins on the spring equinox when day and night are perfectly balanced and the earth awakens again, bringing new life all around.

As a child, Nowruz had always been a time of togetherness, joy, hope and opportunity for new beginnings. This year, like most Iranians, I find myself reflecting on the meaning of this Nowruz. In a time filled with uncertainty, unknown and complex emotions – I return to the essence and intention of Nowruz.

This Nowruz is a reflection of the strength and resilience of the Iranian people, fueled by their hope for a new beginning where the community and culture can flourish in abundance; where the sun will always shine; where prosperity is a daily experience; and where we approach each other with patience and love.

I believe in the power of the Iranian people and those who support them. I believe in a new day for my people.

🤔 Are you noticing patterns of intrusive thoughts, repetitive behaviors, or overwhelming anxiety that may be interfering with daily life? These can potentially be symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Our online quiz is designed for young adults, or their family members, to reflect on symptoms that might be tied to OCD.

Taking this quiz does not serve as a diagnosis, but is a helpful first step in understanding your experience and exploring whether further support might be valuable.

Our team had the privilege of connecting with students at during their Every BODY Belongs Wellness Fair in honor of National Eating Disorder Week.

Senior Dietitian Taylor Garlow, MS, RD, CDN, and Senior Therapist Madison Marble, LGSW, from our D.C. team encouraged students to “Flip the Script” – an activity where they were invited to write down a negative thought about their bodies, and then were guided by our team to challenge that thought, empowering them to challenge Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs).

We loved connecting with local students and are grateful to for the warm welcome and collaboration.

Jayne, thank you for the care and dedication you bring to our community every single day. 💜

What does it mean to truly take up space in your own life? For so many women, being made to feel invisible or small has been a lifelong experience.

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the power of women coming together by interviewing Chloe Weinstein, LMSW, who facilitates our Women’s Process Group. Chloe shares what drives her work, what she’s witnessed in group, and why a space like this is so impactful for young women today.

Chloe, thank you for the light you bring to this work and for holding space with such grace, care, and dedication. 💜

Did you know that 9% of the U.S. population will have an eating disorder in their lifetime, yet only 1 in 10 people with an eating disorder receive treatment?

Misconceptions about eating disorders can leave young adults without the appropriate care and support they need. Taylor Garlow, RD, CDN, MS, and Jayne Cudia, RD, CDN, MS, two of our full-time register dietitians, address 4 common misconceptions about ED to help break down barriers to treatment.

For Eating Disorders Awareness week, we’re highlighting 5 celebrity voices who have openly shared their struggles with disordered eating.

Their stories reflect this year’s theme Every BODY Belongs: a reminder that eating disorders can look different from person to person, and affect people of all different ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, body weights and genders.

⭐ Healing happens when all kinds of bodies are allowed to take up space.

If you or someone you know is dealing with ED symptoms, reach out to one of these resources:

1. : Free support groups and peer-to-peer recovery programs

2: : Screening tools and educational resources

3. Eating Disorders Anonymous: 12-step program with virtual and in-person options

4. 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (US)

5. 1-888-375-7767 ANAD’s Eating Disorder Hotline

6. Alliance for Eating Disorders: 1-866-662-1235

7. Members of our community should reach out to their primary clinician for support.

A life beyond an eating disorder is possible.

Have you been wondering why Punch is so attached to his stuffed Orangutan? Punch never had a mother to provide safety, so his nervous system found the next closest source of comfort and held on. His stuffed toy serves as a transitional object—something that regulates the nervous system in the absence of a safe caregiver.

While we’re seeing it with Punch, this is not limited to primates.

Young adults struggling with attachment wounds can rely just as heavily on substances, relationships, behaviors, or routines that serve the same regulatory function because they didn’t learn to develop internal tools to regulate on their own. Healing begins with building safe, consistent connections to regulate and calm the nervous system.

Over time, these safe connections become the foundation for developing a more secure attachment style and lasting recovery. 💜
