I just finished reading about the debut collection of Chanel's new creative director, Matthieu Blazy, in this month's Vogue magazine. His collection is a wonderful tribute to Chanel's original design inspirations and techniques. Blazy's first runway show was at the Grand Palais in Paris; his second was in NYC. Remembering a full page ad in the WSJ promoting the video of this second show, I've just watched it on chanel.com. It's extraordinary! You must watch it!

Day 4 afternoon in NYC: From Printemps New York on Wall Street, we traveled up via subway to Union Square and stepped right into Gramercy Park Tavern for a very early dinner (lucky!) … then moved on uptown to The Museum at F.I.T. to see their current exhibit “Dress, Dreams & Desire”. Then a short subway ride back uptown and walk back to the hotel. Thank you, New York for a fabulous visit!❤️

Our last day in NYC was so very full I have to split it in half to share with you. We spent late morning and early afternoon on Wall Street at Printemps New York, the Parisien department store’s newest location. Opened in March of this year, Printemps is a delicious experience in French fashion retailing, starting with a concierge at the front door to circling the store with a glass of champagne in hand!

More to share from my whirlwind visit to NYC: Day 2 included an exhileratimg walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and a tour of the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side. Day 3 on the West Side, window shopping, museum hopping and a fantastic show - “Ragtime” - at the Vivien Beamount theater at Lincoln Center!

I’ve just returned from a four-day whirlwind visit to New York City that was filled with wonderful walks, window shopping and fashion research, museum visits and the theater. Fall was in the air, Halloween was upon us, and Christmas decorations started to appear!

There was so much to see and experience - from Upper East Side home decorations to Madison & Fifth Avenue’s shopping highlights (Ralph Lauren’s Fall looks; Dior and Tiffany & Co. remodeled spaces; Louis Vuitton redo underway) and the new Printemps New York at One Wall Street. Here’s a sampling of our first day (more to follow):

I was fortunate to make a trip to Atlanta this week to see the first exhibition in the U.S. dedicated to French haute couture fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin. The exhibit at SCAD FASH - “Haute Couture Heritage” - showcased over 60 garments, illustrations and photographs spanning the height of her practice and reflected her vast knowledge of silhouettes, fabric variations and cutting techniques. Lanvin’s ability to craft elegance with simplicity is the hallmark of her house and enduring legacy. I wish I could share the entire exhibit with you … but here are a few favorites!

I have just spent 10 fabulous days in San Miguel de Allende MX, celebrating a special birthday with a dear friend who moved there from Dallas eight years ago. She is one of the many ex-pats from the U.S. and Canada who have established either full or part-time residency in this beautiful city.

I was charmed on my first visit a few years ago during its Día de los Mu***os celebration. This time, in the warmth of the April sun, I was entranced with the beauty and the charm of the colorful architecture, a growing number of fabulous restaurants & shops, and so many friendly people -- both Mexicans and ex-pats!
