Authentic Method Pilates Two beautiful studios to serve our clients. Upper East Side, Manhattan and Port Jefferson, Long Island. The space is light and clean, refreshing and energizing.

Authentic Method Pilates offers great instruction in a non-competitive, friendly atmosphere. Every detail has been considered in the planning of the space to be comfortable and functional for our clients. Founded by Vivian Piccone Jung, the studio is equipped with reformers, tower, trapeze table, ladder barrel, Pilates chair and arc from manufacturers Basil Pilates, Balanced Body , Gratz, and Deborah Lessen. To complete the training experience we have installed imported Italian sport flooring (a unique padded flooring that is constructed to support the body while also cushioning) and a custom ballet barre with floor to ceiling mirrors. Authentic Method Pilates studio is an ideal place for individuals who wish to move their bodies and minds into wellness and health. At our studio, Classic Pilates Method is expertly used to bring our clients into balance and strength. Our clients appreciate our ability to understand the depth of Joseph Pilates’ work and to continue his spirit of innovation. By thoroughly grasping the history and roots of Joe Pilates’ method, Contrology, we are able to build and expand on his principles and foundations to create specific, personalized programs. We welcome individuals of all levels of fitness. We train athletes and dancers to perform better in their professions, we assist those with injuries to recover and reduce pain, and we work with “regular” people who simply want to build strength and increase fitness. So much was covered today. We worked on feeling the matwork in our bodies. We constructed the exercises. And we reviewed the specifics and details of this amazing method on the mat.

We are so grateful to host Tom Myers this year for his “Finding Your True Pelvis” workshop.

This workshop was, not only about the anatomy and function of this part of the body, but it was a deeper message of uniting all of our disciplines for the betterment of the human condition.

I am so grateful for the knowledge and energy that this group brought to the studio. We had national and international professionals from several disciplines join together to learn from Tom Myers. He taught from the wealth of knowledge that he has developed over his long career of research and training. This was such a special event for everyone.

As pilates teachers, this work supports what we do and deepens our ability to work with clients and help each individual.

We are always advancing our knowledge of the body mind and spirit. Tom has been doing groundbreaking work that has impacted the community and will continue to do so. It was such an honor to have him here again this year. Therapist, body workers, Pilates teachers, biomechanics engineers , and interested citizens all came together to learn from this incredible human.

I am so glad that our studio was able to bring all these people together. Looking forward to next time!

We want a pelvis that is both ’neutral’ to our legs and spine, but free for our movement.  Too often they contradict - if I’m neutral it’s not free; if I’m free, it’s not neutral.  In this workshop, we go through the full spectrum of 20+ muscles that surround the hips:

• Learn to visually ‘read’ what is going on in our clients’ joints, and adjust accordingly.  
• Learn a functional, testable definition of pelvic neutral that recognizes individual variability
• Learn how knees and feet contribute to low-back stability above your ’neutral’

Starting with the abductor ‘deltoid of the hip’, we will tour around each muscle, including the deep lateral rotators, adductors, and hip flexors / psoas group - palpating, showing visual and functional assessments, strengthening and stretching approaches.

Know your own pelvis better, and have more confidence working with others.
