Good morning! Two weeks ago, I finally RETIRED after 27 1/2 years of service to MTA. As many are not afforded this opportunity, I'm blessed to retire being healthier than when I first started. When my healthier lifestyle journey began, it was for wellness. Many co-workers retired but didn't have the opportunity to enjoy a great phase, as they weren't healthy. The diet of the average employee is horrific. People act as if weight gain is part of their job description and make excuses. To work in a toxic environment for a minimum of 25 years and having an unhealthy diet, the body doesn't have any protection against disease. High blood pressure and diabetes is associated from having poor diets and/or weight gain. These two ailments can be controlled even if it runs in your family, by having healthier diets. We decide what we put in our bodies and should make the conscious effort to be disciplined. I want anyone who is reading this post to retire being as healthy as possible. FYI...I have a friend who's Father retired from MTA 37 years ago; he's approaching 90. He's an inspiration. Does a healthier lifestyle play a role with longevity? In my opinion, it does. Enjoy your day. Be well. Be safe!
